With Atkins, it's not just his ability to get out of trouble that makes him so useful. It's that he, seemingly, actively goes searching for players to close in on him. Since he still hits a target most of the time in this situation, it means that the next person in the chain is freer because nearby opponents have gone to Atkins. He effectively sucks them away from being able to impact the next possession.
Very unusual player to watch, sometimes he is surrounded by multiple players who all have their hands on him and yet somehow the ball shoots out to the intended target. Must admit I enjoy watching him

I just love the arrogance in which he plays. He treats the opposition defender with contempt paying him no respect whatsoever.

Players able to remove opponents from the contest is often undervalued around these parts.

On the Sunday Footy Show, they were interviewing Brouch and they made mention about our Smart Arse pack, led by Tex of course but with the Crouches as well, and they specifically mentioned "Rat". Feel as though there is a good comraderie at the club.
Let's not forget how this season started out with Brouch and Rat suspended for one too many Super Dry's at the Clipsal (or whatever the story ended up being).

They were hopeless where I was sitting. No idea at all.
My wife's side of the family have a 2 year old fighting a rare aggressive cancer. The Rat and McLovin visited their ward today, stayed a long time with them and brightened the day up, playing with toys.
