There was a time — and it wasn’t that long ago believe it or not — when the NFC South was one of the toughest divisions in football.

But with the Southern culture on the skids last season, it’s now statistically the easiest.

According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Falcons have the benefit of the league’s easiest 2015 schedule, based on last year’s records.

Of course, the transient nature of the league guarantees that numbers such as this one will eventually become less meaningful with time.

But for the moment, the Falcons play opponents next year who had a .409 winning percentage in 2014, edging out the Colts and Texans for the easiest slate.

The Falcons play just four teams which had a winning record last year — the Eagles, Colts, Texans and Cowboys.

Of course, because the NFC South plays each NFC South team twice this year, and draws the equally bad AFC South in the rotation, it practically guarantees their places at the bottom of the list.

The four NFC South teams occupy the 27th, 28th, 29th and 32nd spots on the list, with the AFC South checking in at 25th, 26th, 30th and 31st.

Only player multiple injuries at the wrong time can derail Dan Quinn from starting his HC career on the right foot.

Interesting who he reels in as his assistants. The clue is that he started coaching at William & Mary (1994) where Mike Tomlin graduated from… Tomlin was a WR from '91-94 there, so that's one contact. Hofstra '97-2000, 49ers (01-04) Fins (05-06) NYJ (07-08) Seahawks (09-10, 2013-14) Florida (10-11).

Looking at who the defenders from the Gators 2010 season: And The Gators had the most drafted that 2010 draft.. including Tim Tebow!!

So does Dan Quinn being HC actually open the gate on allowing Heisman winning sophomore standout Tim Tebow back in the fold??

Others to consider: CB Joe Haden of the Browns, DE Carlos Dunlap (Cinci), DE Jermaine Cunningham (NE) & LB Brandon Spikes (Bills drafted by NE r3), DB Major Wright (Buccs- drafted by Bears r3), C Maukice Pouncey (Pitt), WR Riley Cooper (Eagles)…. the ninth guy is in jail..

Good get if they can pull it off..

ESPN Falcons reporter Vaughn McClure expects the team to pursue free agent TE Niles Paul.

McClure sees Paul as a likelier target than expensive Julius Thomas, who is the top tight end on the market. Paul has a history with new Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan, and could play the role of "move" tight end in Shanahan's offense. Still only 25 years old, Paul finished 2014 with a 39-507-1 receiving line.

Had never heard of him till he ripped me a new one in the AFC CG in my current madden save.
Thankgod the Manziel-Green duo got up in the 2nd half to overcome them.

Whoever said the Falcons were a boring franchise??? o_Oo_O:confused::confused:

Vic Beasley: Playing for Falcons would be a dream come true

Clemson held its pro day on Thursday and flocks turned out to take a look at their crop of draft eligible players, with pass rusher Vic Beasley on the top of many wish lists.

Beasley turned in a strong combine performance to build on an outstanding collegiate career and is expected to go high in the first round of the draft on April 30. The Falcons have the eighth pick and Beasley, who grew up about 60 miles outside Atlanta, said on Thursday that it would be “a dream come true” to play for the team he grew up rooting for as a kid. The hometown ties are only part of the allure, however.

Beasley said he was impressed by his meeting with Falcons coach Dan Quinn at the combine and by the defense that Quinn put together in Seattle. He also said that Quinn told him he could be a good fit in that scheme.

“He just said that he had guys like Bruce Irvin and other similar guys to me that could play that Leo position,” Beasley said, via ESPN.com. “That’s kind of where we connected right there. I fit the Leo position because a guy like Bruce Irvin, we’re similar body types. And we have similar games. We’re both great edge-rushers.”

There are several other good pass rushing prospects in the draft and, as always, plenty of teams looking for pass rushing help, so there’s more than a possibility that the Falcons could look elsewhere or that Beasley could fail to make it to the eighth pick. If the stars align, though, it looks like there’s a real chance that Beasley could make a happy homecoming.

Even the best pass rusher is ineffective if your pass coverage is incompetent.
As long as we can get a stud corner in the draft (or next years), I fear this pick will be ineffectual.

What good is having 1-2 great players in a s**t personal grouping. What good is having Beasley hussle for no benefit when others around him break down?

Good player, but he'll look a bust if nothing else changes soon.

Beasley and Trufant can't carry this defence by themselves.
Just like Ryan and Jones can't carry the offence.

That didn’t take long.

Within hours of charges being filed accusing him of kicking and killing his then-girlfriend’s small dog, the Falcons have released linebacker Prince Shembo, according to Zach Klein of WSB. The Falcons have since announced the move themselves.

“We are aware of the charges that have been filed against Prince Shembo,” the team said in a statement. “We are extremely disappointed that one of our players is involved in something like this. Accordingly, we have decided to waive Prince Shembo.”

Shembo was charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals, for allegedly kicking a Yorkshire terrier named Dior, causing massive internal injuries.

The Falcons were willing to stick up for Shembo after they chose him in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, despite an incident during his college years at Notre Dame. He was accused of sexually assaulting a female student at nearby St. Mary’s College, who later committed suicide.

No charges were filed in that case, and the Falcons said they were “very comfortable” with him in regards to it.

They’re apparently less comfortable now, and moved quickly to distance themselves.

At least we have the morals to cut the filth even if he is the face of the franchise.

You wouldn't see a club of New Orleans' stature for example make these moves. They'd probably give them their full support and bring them back after their punishments have been handed out and served! Oh wait, they do...

ESPN's Dianna Marie Russini reports the Falcons are interested in free agent QB Rex Grossman.

Grossman spurned the Jets in their pursuit for a veteran quarterback after Geno Smith's broken jaw and hasn't appeared in a game since 2011. But he has a long history with new Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan. T.J Yates and Sean Renfree are the current backups to Matt Ryan in Atlanta.

Falcons get a rush from visiting with Hall of Famer Bruce Smith

Smith, owner of the NFL’s all-time sack record, is back in the Falcons’ camp Tuesday at Flowery Branch, Ga., as a special guest of the coaching staff. On Monday, he assisted defensive line coach Bryan Cox on the field, had a one-on-one session with coach Dan Quinn and provided pointers to the players.
