Those Elite, Above average, average, below average, poor categories are all based entirely on stats for their position. Conca is below average because for his position (midfield) 19 possesions a game isn't great. Harper is below average because 8.8 disposals per game isn't very many for any position.

It doesn't take into account age, potential, sub games or impact on games. It's simply a statistical comparison. I would bet Coniglio and David Swallow are both listed as average or below average too.
Totally agree on Harper. Flashes of brilliance isn't enough. But sub games is tough to build stats and momentum. But no excuses needs to lift.

Find it amusing that Ben McEvoy and Goldstein both averaged 12.2 disposal Ben 25.3 hit outs and Todd 31.6 hitouts yet Ben is the elite? Todd a victim of his own monsterous 2011??? I'm saw he got really upset when he read it too:D

McEvoy is far more damaging around the ground. His work in the back half is far better than Goldsteins.

I think a better camparison would be Stanton (no offence Don fans) being elite while Harvey isn't. Surely if you knew how their careers turned out you'd choose Harvey 99% of the time. Rubbish article really..

Conca will take it to another level this season without ever having a full pre season.

Will be the better of the 2 when their career's are over too.
I thought Conca was taking it to another level in 2012? Typical BF (yes I'm aware every club has supporters that do it incl North) stating what WILL happen with such surety.

Yep I know Ziebell is going to improve his TOG and tear the other teams a new one. No I don't, I hope he does and I see massive upside in his game but upside in itself means he hasn't really shown it yet.

He definitely got better in 2012 and then got injured. Improving every year and he hasn't had a full pre season yet.

I reckon Atley will be a good player too though I rate Conca higher than most Richmond supporters. Both are/will finish better than Dyson Heppell.

So you rate Ben a rung ahead of Todd?

When they went head to head last year both had 18 possessions, Ben 25 hit outs and Todd 41.

Ben is a far better contested mark and gets himself in a position that helps the defence. Goldstein needs to learn to.

I actually agree with this. Goldy needs to take contested marks. Drops absolute sitters at times. McEvoy imposes himself on the contest more in my opinion. Something Goldy will hopefully improve on.

For anyone looking to start a shitfight in this thread (whether you be North or Richmond supporter) - DON'T. Don't give OP satisfaction.

From Richmond/North list poll thread.

What have I done.. I've created a monster.
Who would have thought that these two reasonable groups of supporters would turn on each other like this.

I might be wrong, but I doubt OP meant this genuinely.
Please stop. Conca vs Atley (and vs Heppell) has been done to death anyway.

I agree 100% with this. But there still isn't a big enough gap between them imo to say one is elite and one isn't (and imo neither are)

I agree however some non biased discussion actually resulted so boo to stirring.

Agree with the above re: Ben and his marking and def abilities but overall don't see Ben elite to Goldy average.

Can't believe people are getting carried away about an article that is based around SuperCoach scores.

Ignoring positional differences, Atley ahead currently, but there isn't all that much in it despite those banging on saying otherwise.

You're an Essendon man so we don't like eachother, but I totally agree:eek:

The team under my name doesn't make me a bad person and my opinion invalid... as long as it isn't our teams head to head, it is okay to agree with each other.

Conca makes Ben Cunnington look quick, he also has poor disposal by hand and foot, and his awareness in traffic is pathetic for someone drafted as a "future gun mid". When in contrast to Atley who has genuine X-Factor, serious speed, breaks lines and already has a better kick then Conca which was considered his "Weak point". This poll is a joke.

yep there is - if you can't access the article, North's one is as follows:

North Melbourne

ELITE
Andrew Swallow midfielder
Drew Petrie forward
Scott Thompson defender
BELOW AVERAGE
Jamie MacMillan midfielder
Ben Jacobs defender
Levi Greenwood midfielder
Keiran Harper forward
Aaron Mullett midfielder
Taylor Hine defender
POOR
Cameron Delaney defender

Not sure why it only showed 3 categories, surely there would be more?

What a ****en ridiculous effort from the HS. Cameron Delaney is poor? He has played 4(?) matches and only been on the list for two seasons. Making any mention of Jacobs, Greenwood, Mullet and Hine is ridiculous given all were either injury plagued or not best 22 int he last two seasons. Jacobs and Hine haven't even played a game for us...

It's Champ data, not HUN

Delaney averaged 14.2 disposals, 3.2 marks, 2.4 tackles. That's not great.

And if a player is not best 22 for a team around the middle of the ladder that would suggest they are below average would it not?

And Jacobs may not have played for North but he did play for Port and he was quite poor for them.

As I said before this is solely statistically based and has nothing to do with potential. Houli is not elite and Conca is not a spud. Don't get so upset when someone says players on your list are below average. Many of them are.
