Back on the topic, Rafa is in hot form, smashing Gasquet 6-4 6-2. Federer meets Del Potro tonight, should be an absolute belter of a contest, I'm tipping Fed 7-5 in the 3rd. Although this will be the last time Del Potro loses to Federer for a long time, next year he is going to dominate tennis and finish #1 in the world.

Turned out to be a straightforward enough run out for the Meister who is playing well without having to extend himself. He's back.
Agreed. He goes on to win the Aus Open to tie the record with Sampras, then breaks the grand slam record with a win at Roland Garros, now that would be a great story.
Murray played fantastic in the 3rd set, he deserved the win. Had 6 or 7 break points as opposed to Federer's 1 in the last set. He keeps up that form and should win the final.

Great stuff from Murray. Two Masters titles in a row, either side of a runner-up effort to Federer in the Grand Slam.

Very entertaining watching matches like Murray/Monfils, Murray/Federer, and Murray/Simon. Much better than watching players like Nadal and Djokovic who just stand there and hit the ball as hard as they can.

I don't think that is relevant how long he lasts at number 1. The fact is he got there, deserves to be there and will finish the year as the number 1 player in the world. 2 grand slams, an olympic gold medal and a stack of other tournaments this year for Nadal.
The fact he has become number 1 in Federer's era is even more of an effort. Nadal had the highest ranking points as the number 2 player in the world ever. If he was around before Fed, he would have been number 1 a while ago now.
