I watched this match too, was actually quite entertaining. :thumbsu: Each set lasted over an hour and was really hard fought. Monaco had a chance to wrap it up at 5*-4 but failed to serve it out but Andreev was then broken straight back and Monaco held on to take it 7-5. Wasn't Andreev up 40-0 in that 5-5 game? He really threw away his chances last night and you're spot on, his volleying was pathetic.

Jason Goodall wasn't part of the commentary team last night, I take it he was still resting/travelling from Barcelona. Nick Lester did some commentary and I thought he was excellent, hopefully he sticks around.

Yeah he was. It's always the same with Igor, mentally he's just never 100% with it and it cost him against Cilic in Monte Carlo, and it's cost him at least a set in Rome. He served for the 1st Set at 6-5, then led 3-0 in the 2nd Set.

The commentary as usual is terrific.

Hewitt is just a hell of lot trouble holding serve at the moment, 1ste rve percentage is again too low but even then he was only winning 48% of points with the 1st ball. Frustating but not totally surprising. Now can back down for DC.

gulbis putting up a mitey fite against rafa

Yes, Gulbis is doing very well but Rafa again is making uncharacteristic errors tonight.

Awesome effort by Gulbis, but just couldn't take his chances. Bordering on top 30 now, so with some good results he could snatch a seeding at RG.

The serving was the most amazing thing from Gulbis, aroun 80% for the whole match, that's rather ridculous given how much of a crack he gives that first serve. Had a feeling Nadal would eventually prevail though, few too many dumb shots from gulbis in the end cost him (mainly drop shots).

Obviously other than Nadal, Verdasco, Ferrer and Gulbis have been the big winners of the clay court season thus far. Verdasco and Ferrer both reaching their first MS finals and Gulbis his first SF.

The final was a bit of an anti-climax with the terrible weather, they had 3 goes to complete the match and by the final attempt the stadium was only half full. Another great week by Rafa.

Yeah the Final wasn't great, the weather definitely played a part.

Still, Rafa looks far to strong for anyone ion clay at the moment, if he's close to 100% fit, he should win at Roland Garros easily.

Yeah, I gave up after the 2nd rain delay, no point in staying up for what we knew what was going to happen.

We are due a big tournament soon, hopefully we can get some in Madrid, much like Nadal/Djokovic SF from alst year would be nice.
