Thiem v Medvedev is the Barcelona final. Couldn't think of a better match.

Supporting Thiem all the way but like Medvedev as well so would be happy if he won.

Medvedev still seems like the next-gen player that I most want to do well (ala Djokovic 10-15 years ago).

Was cool to see Ferrer rack up a few more wins this week and get a Barcelona match against Nadal. 1 tournament to go. Then I need a new favourite player. Medvedev/Djokovic and WTA faves will do for the meantime.

Finally got to see Felix Auger-Aliassime play when he played Millman in Lyon the other night. It was a good match - he won in two sets but it was fairly close - and he is now in the final of Lyon up against Paire.

Fognini has cracked the top 10 for the first time at 32yo.

The last time an Italian male was in the top 10 was January 1979 (Corrado Barazzutti).

Whereas 4 Italian women have made slam finals and cracked the top 10 during this decade.

Pennetta's 11 career titles would seem to be the national record in the Open Era. Fabio currently has 9.

Nice to see Federer win another Halle title, ATP title no 102. Old man Lopez also taking out the Queens club to make it the week of the veterans.
Federer is still a huge threat on the grass. Is still arguably the best player on this surface at 37. Novak hasn't played any matches yet so will go into Wimbledon very rusty. Rafa won't beat Federer on grass. It's really looking like a Fed Vs Novak final unless some of the next generation can announce themselves or Zverev can pull his finger out.
