I love Kohlschreiber
Also the Hopman Cup is good when it comes to players not taking themselves seriously, they provide some great entertainment. Just look up Dmitry Tursunov at the Hopman Cup a couple of years ago and youll see :)

Alicia Molik made her comeback this week at an 25k ITF event in Darwin, she's into the final against Sally Peers, who beat Olivia Rogowska in the semi's. Would be great if Alicia could return to top level tennis, shes plays another tournament in Darwin next week.

She won that final 3 and 4, something like that, can pretty much guarntee that WC into AO already now, any doubts of being out of touch completely are out of the way, now it's going to be a matter of whether she can do these results at higher levels.

It really would be great for tennis if Molik could get back to where she was, but she's getting on a bit (in tennis age) so she mightn't have that much time left. I'll still be barracking for her though, she was one of my favourite players.

I thought she was only making a professional return to doubles?

Even if she's fit enough to make a singles comeback i don't think she'll be making any waves at the top WTA tournaments.

Luczak won his match 7-5, 7-6. Not a very convincing win over a guy who has barely played on clay this year but an ATP win is an ATP win. Cuevas or Pavel in the 2nd round i think.

Ferguson took a set off Kirilenko before she ended up losing in Seoul. 4-6, 6-1, 6-2

Took a victory and could face Pablo Cuevas next which is a very winnable match. (Was Cuevas the guy who took Guccione out in straights at the US Open?)

Yes, also made the 3rd round at Wimby i'm thinking due to a lucky draw

USA: Melanie Oudin & John Isner

Nice pairing, Oudin's run at the US open was amazing, and big serving Isner :thumbsu:

This week Hewitt is playing Kuala Luampur and faces Joachim Johannsson in the first round, i swer i remember that guy retiring for good. Sam is playing in Tokyo and has a qualifier in the first round but got a rough draw with Sharapova in the 2nd round..

The Isner selection is an epic fail. The main reason people play Hopman cup is to blow out the cobwebs after the off-season, get some match practice under their belt and and click into gear for the AO... Isner is the worst possible person to play in this circumstance as he just deprives the opponent of the one thing they want to find the most... rhythm. If I was placed in his group I would not be impressed and would probably just retire after 2 games citing a 'stomach virus'. Huge stuff up from the organisers.

Bit harsh on the guy, he's a top 50 player, he's a different style of tennis player, need to practice against all types of players

Actually Joachim Johansson also announced his retirement about a year and a half ago. But he decided to come back and try again.

Yeah, i thought he had tried to comeback with the shoulder issues he had and gaved up, must be trying again

About time tennis rolled back into the right timezone. :thumbsu:
Stosur coming up against Sharapova in about half an hour. Should be a good match, would be a big win for her if she can pull it off. Just depends on which Sharapova turns up.

Yep, although that means using up peak downloads :(

There's a stream on atdhe.net for anyone interested, very curious to see how Sam goes here.

Lleyton also plays his match later at around 9.30, that'll be on stream too.

20GB for the win. :thumbsu:

6-0 6-1, well what can you say?.
Maria had 2 MP at 5-0, but Stosur stepped it up for a couple of points.
Sharapova was good, but she wasn't as good as the scoreline suggests. She's definitley imrpoving, her serve was looking like a train wreck during the USO series, but it looks as if she's gone back to her old motion. (1DF, 7A) There's still alot of improvement to come in her game but it's coming at a steady rate. Might jump on her for the Aus Open.
Stosur looked like she didn't want to be there. Her serve was a miserable fail, 37% 1st serves in, her weak 2nd's opened the door for Sharapova to let rip. Just horrible all round.

^ Stosur sounds like she's going to down the toilet a bit. Hope not, would be a shame.
Unless her bad finals record has begun to bother her confidence or something.

And Lleyton loses 7-6(7), 6-3. What a f***ing horrible night.

I know Pim Pim is a good player and everything, but you shouldn't be losing to a guy who hasn't played for four months. Horrible bp conversion as well obivously although a few were saved by unreturnable serves.

Chance wasted to get some nice points
