Dokic won her 2nd round match in the ITF tournament being played in Athens this week. She plays Angelique Kerber in the 1/4 finals. I know it is only a challenger tournament, but it is really important that she has got a couple of wins under her belt, hopefully she can start to regain the form and fitness that she had at the beginning of the year.

Nup, will be apart of the normal sports package. I think the new channels are kicking in November 1st. About time, watching choppy foreign streams on the laptop was wearing a bit thin.

Unconfirmed rumours:

Need another big name/team imo. Djokovic i reckon.

Dokic won her 1/4 final match in the Athens challenger, beating Angelique Kerber 7-5 6-4. She was down 5-2 in the first set, but managed to reel off 5 straight games. She plays the semi final tonight, hopefully she can get another win.

Crazy that Sam is playing her first round main draw match against Cornet in Beijing now. She's really struggling at the moment, it's in a third now.

Sharapova winning Tokyo with Jankovic retiring in the first set.

I cannot she believe she lost to Cornet, who has been in terrible form the last few months. Sam has hit a real bad patch of form and it is not good at all. What has happened to her? Since the last tournament she played before the US Open, she has only won a handful of matches.

Alize Cornet of all people.
Even old Sam would be ashamed of that.

Jelena Dokic thru to the $100k Athens final, reeling off 4 straight games to down Kristina Kucova 6-1 6-4.
Will play winner of Eleni Daniilidou/Maria-Elena Camerin tommorow.

I blame David Taylor.
This. Rene Moller was the man behind the 'new Sam', he had her playing like the beast we all thought she was capable of, and now in an attempt to save some coin and go back to Taylor she has committed career suicide. The 'old Sam' is well and truly back now .

Been a promising week for Jelena, getting wins always helps the confidence. Hopefully she can win the final.

Hewitt has some Japanese WC in the first round of Tokyo, 2nd wildcard he's drawn in a row, be nice if he was able to at least make the quarters there considering it is a 500 event

When I heard she went back to Taylor (at Wimby i think). I thought that just didn't make any sense coming off that run at RG. Mind you she still had that great run in the US for a few weeks so could be something else.

Dokic won the first set of that final.

Im following it on tennisforum, 6-2 5-1*.
Is it really that hard for the tournament to set up a scoreboard or something for a final? They did for the earlier rounds.

It's a challenger, live scoring can always be inconsisant

So she wrapped it up 6-2 6-1. She did not lose a set all week and beat some handy players. Let's hope that this is a springboard for the remaining tournaments in 2009 and as a lead up to the Australian summer. She has huge points to defend at the Aus Open, so she has to somehow manage to gain points at other tournaments before it comes around next year. I think she gets 150 points for winning this tournament, so that is really good. It should also give her a lot of confidence. She has had such an up and down year, and it is good to see that she has recovered from the illness.

It was always going to be about limiting the damage of defending those points after the long run of illness she had, this is going to help a lot, not only with points but confidence as well.

I think David Taylor may have actually been Molik's coach when she was at her best, so its possible he just doesn't suit her.
To go from beating people like Serena Williams, to losing to fringe players like Vania King in the space of a month is slightly sh1tola.

I think Dokic would've done well this year had she not been sick.

just curious.....did any1 else lose plenty bcos of venus yesterday?? I dont want to be the odd one out! had a 10 leg multi.....everything came thru, bar williams :(

Hewitt won his match 6-1 7-5:thumbsu:
Bit of a struggle in the 2nd, was down a break 0-3, but he got it back.

Plays the winner of Santoro-Golubev next, then a probable QF match up with Del Potro.
