I called the AFL yesterday to complain about the umpiring in the Carlton/Adelaide match. They said I was the only person to complain about the match but they would get someone to call me after the Monday review

This morning, I received a message from Rohan Sawyers and he left a return number

Clearly, we can't get the 4 points but at least we should keep the umpiring honest or someone should pay for it! Anyway, here is a list of incidents from the game (from bluebear)

Thornton mark not paid
Moran fingernail in the back from Grigg
Moran shoves Jammo under the ball, no call
Thornton taken high in the C Sq not paid
Shepherd on Fev playing on from 50m armchairs them into F50 for a goal........


Please add and I will run through each one and report back

I will be very busy at work this afternoon so if someone else wants to do it, feel free to volunteer and i will post the number

Once again, we can't get the 4 points back, but someone should be made accountable

We had a lot of pivotal decisions go against us in that game, so the bloke is looking to get clarification from the AFL as to whether they where mistakes or correct calls.

Seems perfectly logical to me.

Six straight points at the end of the game cost us the game, but I didn't think that it was a very well umpired game for either side.

But as I highlighted, if your team is good enough, the umpires dont matter. Your team wasn't good enough. You lost.

I agree with that. You can never use bad umpiring as an excuse. You just have to play that much better to negate the 4-5 goal advantage. We had a heap more of the ball than Floodelaide in the last 1/4, but stuffed up our opportunities, and therefore didn't deserve to win. If we kicked straight we should have won by 20 points or so. Without Ryan about 45-50 points.

You go as low as to cheat the system then exploit it, and now your blaming umpires and being critical of a winning teams tactics. lol

You could go through a thousand games and find where an umpire made a few bad calls when the match ended up close. Hell probably alot of those games you won as a result of those umpiring deceisions.

Iam just pointing out you can't blame umpires for a loss. It happens to all teams, such as Hawthorn, and they still win. If your good enough you win the game no matter what.

lol. We just laugh at Floodelaides ultradefensive tactics. You need them because you have an old list, low on talent. Will get you into the finals and then a straight sets exit as per usual. Zero upside.

Boy I hope that ends well. Be careful who you give that number to.

We lost the game because of poor kicking. We got crap decisions which influenced the result no doubt, but at the end of the day we made opportunities and then wasted them. Still, it would be nice to get an explanation for each of the dodgy decisions.

That should happen for every game, every week. Once upon a time it used to.

Imagine where the top 10 controversial decisions were highlighted by the umpiring panel on a Monday, with thumbs up/down and an justification/excuse in each case. That would defuse a lot of fan anger. Sadly that will never happen while the AFL pretends there are no wrong umpiring decisions in the deluded belief that denial fosters future umpires.
