According to the rest of the competition we had an aura over the past two years, which we lost earlier this year. Does anyone else feel like it is back, if not just a little?

I cant wait to tell my grandkids about this in 50 years time!

'That Geelong team of 2007-2012. On their day, they could not be beat. One of the greatest teams.'

The aura remains - that special sprinkling of wonder that only comes along once or twice in a lifetime. Great teams over the years have come close to being the same, but the Cats, for reasons best left to fate, just let their spirits run free and wild. It allows the natural gifts of athletes, through hard work and determintaion, to step away from the pack, and turn a beautiful sport into an artform, as a little toe-poke in the most important passage of play in the biggest game of the year showed us. The opposition can really only wait, and hope, that with time, this era will fade away. Could be a few years yet. For Geelong, when on beautiful song, are still two-steps away, dancing to their own tune, with the ball on a string, keeping the wonder in our hearts.

Reminiscent of Hawthorn in the late 80's and Brisbane in the early 2000's. Both sides had a tremendous self belief and could never be written off.

Hopefully, we emulate the 80's Hawthorn, a side that kept reinventing itself and winning premierships.

I think this current Geelong team is the epitome of the phrase "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts", which is incredible when you think that about 2/3rds of those parts are AA players.

I just love the way that it seems that all the players are nearly always in sync with how they think. They seem to know what their teammates are going to do before they do it. It's like the whole game has been scripted beforehand, and the players are merely actors playing a part in a multi-award winning box office smash week after week.

I was watching the Round 1 game against Essendon the other night, and there was one passage of play that encapsulated what we've been able to do for the last three seasons. It was deep in the last quarter, and Hunt hit Enright on the chest on defensive 50 from a kick in. He passed it to Mooney on the wing, who in turn kicked it over Chapman's head so he could run onto it leading into the attacking 50. Chappy then proceeded to kick it to Bartel who was streaming towards goal, and he marked at the top of the goal square without having to break stride and kicked the goal. As close to perfection as you can get.

I remember after the Round 3 game against the Pies last year, when Mick Malthouse said "If we play at our best, and Geelong play at their best, they'll win, because they're better than us." Without being arrogant, I think that rings true with about every other team in the league, and recent history would prove that.

I get the cocky shit, but this is different. There are not that many sports fans, in the world, who have seen teams as good as this. If you do an AFL top 10, or D would be 1 or 2 and our Mids in the top 5. Crazy! WE get seriously pump teams and do on a regular basis and all the other games you watch as another team tries in vein before being bitch slapped. I just watch now with a cocky grin like, wait, wait SMACK - yep there it is bitch! Bahahaha and all your mates now know what you watch every week!

I dont think Geelong are Cocky, they just are a team of great mates who really enjoy playing football. 2008 GF they got a bit cocky and got hurt. Now they play to enjoy their time, and it shows in the way they are able to consistantly play for each other more often than any other club.

Sometimes the love for each gets a bit.. "intense"... See stokesy and Mooney.
