Have a questions about the crowds ? They looked to be down even taking into account the 50% crowd cap - I've attended the first week on a few occasions where I focus on the outside courts and it's Jam packed with people - You need the overseas visitors back who add to the vibe of the event.

Day 1 had about 38% attendance compared to 2020.

Just tuned in and remembered how crap the ch9 coverage team are.
(My opinion...maybe you all prefer them to 7's crew.

There are some good ones really like Dokic as a commentator but it's like every station there's some awful ones too.

Rybakina is my tip to win it gets the cakewalk draw. The Osaka-Barty match will be huge and the other thing Ash has to do is flog opponents rounds 1-3, she has this really bad habit of just doing enough to win in the early rounds. She'll need everything for the Osaka match, doesn't need to use the petrol on the scrubs rounds 1-3

Dokic is good and Woodbridge (who was on 7 too along with Sam Smith & Alicia Molik) aren't too bad. Not sure I think much of Casey Dellacqua and I am starting to hate Sam Groth.

A lot of 7's old commentators are part of the telecast including veterans like Allan Stone & Garry Wilkinson who were calling matches back in the 70s.

The worst part is the hostess (Roz Kelly?) who mispronounces almost every name, regularly gives you the wrong score and throughout the ATP Cup kept saying 'Ken RoseWELL Arena'.

He said over the weekend (paraphrasing) 'it's a situation of his own making. Players are not more important than tournaments. And whether he plays or not the Australian Open will be a great tournament'.

i dont think ive ever paid attention to the Open before the second week...

The first weeks of any slam are the best weeks imho. But I usually don't watch the boring straight set victories by the top seeds on the top courts, I watch the up and comers, especially the Aussies.
