Just curiously, does anyone know of a listed player who has been rookied by the same team and has then made it back onto the main list? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head.

If so couldn't be many surely. Success rate would tend to show that its not worth it...

FWIW Brett Kirk fits this bill. One of very few though!

On topic, would love to see Aussie given another go off the rookie list, he was showing some very good signs with his back up against the wall in the last few matches for the Ants.

Also, re: Sellar, In late 2009 and particularly against us in round 22 at Docklands I really liked what he was starting to show as a 2nd ruck that could go forward. If there's no one left that we rate with our 3rd or 4th rookie pick I don't see what harm having another tall with a bigger body would do.

Actually there's a lot to lose by using the precious spare spots on our list unwisely i.e. Opportunity Cost. The whole idea is to unearth high-talent rough-diamonds over-looked by the non-Carlton teams (e.g. Jeff Garlett), and not just fill the spots with cloggers. Those days are well and truly over. The aim now is to make an awesome list even better. From what I've seen of Sellar, I'd say PASS. But our list managers have an outstanding record, and so I trust whatever decision they make. Would be surprised if Sellar is on the radar. We already have plenty of talls. Suspect we'll be focusing on small/medium talent this time.

Were you against picking up Curnow who has been on an AFL rookie list before?



I'd have no problems picking up Heyne in the rookie draft if Hughes and the staff believe he can add to our side in the future.
