whats everyone getting upto for aussie day? ill be at a mates listening to the hottest 100 with the cricket on mute, beers and bbq are to be had too.

That'll be my last day in Australia until September. Travelling the world!

I'll probably spend the day having a barbecue at the beach with family and friends. Then at night, I'll go to my friend's house, all decked out in our footy guernseys and Aussie printed clothes, while we drink, dance and have a huge waterfight. Tradition.

Cricket is boring as shit. Footy would make my Australia day officially Australian.

More like Invasion day

On a serious note; I am not one for patriotic ejaculations so I couldn't give a shit about 'White Australia Day' at all - But if we really wanted to have a national day that was inclusive of all of our citizens, why would we choose a date that has so many obvious bad connotations for the indigenous people in the country?

If we wanted a legitimate national day, it should be Jan 1st - That was when we become the federation of Australia - Before that this place was a bunch of white, British colonies who, in all honesty, were brutal ****s who decimated the indigenous population and who refused to allow Asian immigrants into the country

*(yeah, white australia last a lot longer past 1901, but you get my point) -

Sailing in the Australia Day Regatta on Sydney Harbour.

Kind of wish I could trade with one of my mates. He's in the Army Reserves and his artillery battalion is doing the midday guns on the Opera House's Man O'War Steps.

I agree with what you're saying and am also not patriotic.

but i do love a day off.

Nope. But I sail small one-design keelboats and skiffs... two- and three-man crews. I think the FoS is all big boats.

Would love to do it one day though. Getting my sea miles up and doing some of the big bluewater races is on my bucket list.

Taking no notice of the fact it is "Australia day"

The tripple J whatever it is is a crock. If I wanted to listen to new Aussie bands playing classically Aussie music in homeage to those who came before I'll get out my Airbourne.

An Australia Day AFL game at the MCG would be huge, right up there with Anzac Day... if it were logistically possible that is.

Maybe the opening game of the NAB Cup at Etihad?

Would you really wanna watch footy in the middle of January when it's 30c +?

I love footy just as much as the next bloke, but it's a winter sport.
