There are elements of both.

It would make sense that governments choose immigrants that match the skills that are in demand locally and who are also most capable of assimiliating. Why would the government choose to do otherwise?

The government already prioritises people who have expertise in required fields when processing immigration, so let’s move past that.

Let’s focus on the “most capable of assimilating”. What do you actually mean by that?

Racism is the narrative being pushed to deflect the legitimate concerns that are caused by record immigration by those who stand to benefit from it.
Who is pushing the UPF and National socialists and actual Nazis into this protest then?

Cause it isn’t anyone in the left.

You keep talking about record inflation but that’s just base stats fearmongering.

Look at it as a percentage of the population number, it’s only a record total cause we’re bigger now than ever before.

Fair enough..setting aside the ethics of taking away doctors trained by other nations, how many of the 660,000 in 2023 do you think were trained for those roles that we need? Secondly with 660,000 immigrants in one year are they not going to demand those same services?

Its like a cat chasing its tail, and leads to nowhere.
Students and temporary visa workers who had to go home during Covid would have accounted for much of that 660k I imagine. That would be a correction, not a trend. For better or worse, education is an export, which doesn't help things but is far from being the primary source of the problem. As far as services goes, yes, more people means more demand for services, which means we need more people. This is why I say look at the underlying problems rather than immigration itself.

if your argument is people that don't look and act like me shouldn't be allowed to come here because they make things worse

then yeah that's racism

sorry, I don't make the rules
That meme is brilliant, pinching that. :)

‘Assimilating’

Could you please describe what this means?!?
It’s all about housing and cossie lives until it’s pointed out that’s not an immigration thing.

Then it’s culture and assimilation.

Keep pushing and those white hoods, I mean values, start poking out, every time

Its not the cloth its the symbolization of the nation (which of course you know). The fact you can disrespect it withut consequence is one of the things that's great about this nation that the symbol represents, that you want to burn? WTF?
If people burn the flag it doesn't bother me one bit.

Why? Because my love of this country isn't invested in the flag - in fact my love of the country is completely independent of it.

if they so hate the place that flag represents then surely they can find somewhere more to their liking?
Equally, if people don't like the current immigration mix and levels, they can do precisely the same.

Or, to put it in your words, they can GTFO.............

No, it isn't. We're historically excellent at producing leggies; legspin has been, for the entirety of history, the hardest craft to bowl to a high standard and Australia has zero need to outsource our development of them to anyone else as we have in our history more leggies of quality than literally everyone else.

Lindwall. Grimmett. Benaut. Warne. MacGill. King.

We've had two to three blokes in there who redefined what it meant to be a wristspinner at the top level with their careers.

You're older than I am, you should know this!

Pardon me? Lindwall most certainly didn’t bowl spin.

What's your background? Where did your family emigrate from?
You’re heading for a punch in the face.
Like Katter, he’s been here since the dawn of time.
Tell him that means he must be Aboriginal, and you’ll also get threatened with violent assault.
Emotional snowflakes these racists

It’s also worth making the point, that as citizens, those of us with uni degrees and the added benefits of a degree, paid significantly less for that degree, in part because the unis charge international students through the roof to study here.

So as a white Australian, that is one specific way in which immigrants (predominantly from Asia), have greatly benefited me.

Another speaking going full mask off with the White Pride crap

These clowns couldn’t even pretend it was just about economics for one minute could they?

Most of them couldn’t spell economics with three goes and the vowels filled in

No its not equally. And why would they do that when they can just vote for a party that has the sense to be more selective and restrict immigration?

Nup. We're not going past that. In 2022 we had over 700,000 immigrants. In 2023 it was 660,000. Surely that should have fixed why we have a 2 year wait for elective surgery? Or the lack of construction workers. I mean thats nearly 5 cities the size of Geelong in 2 years. Surely those shortages would have been fixed with soooo many ariving with the "required expertise".

Enough of the gaslighting: all we get is more Uber, Amazon and door dash drivers many of whom are students using their courses as a back door to PR. I suppose its good for the millionaire Uni Chancellors, so there is that silver lining.

People who are committed to this nation and willing to adapt to the local way of life.
And how do you define that? Almost everyone I know has a different way of living. There is no one way to live or be in this country.

Doing an awful lot of racist rhetoric for someone so offended at being labeled racist.

And when said party keeps getting their asses kicked at every election?

Move then or keep doing rallies that get flooded with Nazis hat totally aren’t Nazi rallies?

So the doctors, accountants, pharmacists pharmacists, teachers, and other middle class professionals I’ve encountered in the last week of non white heritage are all just secret uber drivers eh?

Again you miss the point entirely. What you should be asking is WHY does the Uni degree cost so much in the first place? Why do Uni's have million dollar salaries for Chancellors and spend millions on marketing? And how much is that Uni degree really worht these days when so many have them?

Shorten is getting paid more than the PM!

Are you talking Federal or State?

Why would I move when I execute my political right to change governemnt policy, like any other citizen?
Both at the moment.

Have you done that? Cause you seem to be complaining a lot about a policy you seem to think is changing to your whim (spoiler, it’s not)
