How do you think our XI performed?
Out of 10:

Katich - 4 nice 50 in the first
Watson - 6 unlucky not to have more wickets and batted well enough
Ponting - 4 (2 for captaincy) Looked solid in 2nd dig but poor when it mattered with the bat and captaincy.
Clarke - 1 probably shouldn't of played and dropped catches
Hussey - 9 Great innings with some luck, needs to keep it up.
North - 2 Another failure with the bat, bowling was OK.
Haddin - 7 Great knock with the bat, dropped one he should of caught keeping.
Johnson - 0 No wickets, dropped catches and a duck.
Doherty - 3.5 passed just with his decent bowling in the first
Siddle - 6 Was great for a short period but besides that offered little like the rest of the quicks
Hilfenhaus 3 - Tried hard on a pitch that offered little but could of done more

Ponting - 3 - Poor captaincy, terrible first innings.
Clarke - 0 - Selfish.
Hussey - 9 - Great to see him back.
North - 0 - Shouldn't be playing
Haddin - 8 - Perfect effort almost.
Johnson - 0 - Proof that overs under the belt/match fitness means nothing.
Doherty - 1 - Hauritz is seriously unlucky to have this guy in front of him.
Siddle - 5 - Took his chance, but still more required.
Hilfenhaus 4 - Moved the ball consistently but too wide in general.

Haddin could of been an 8 but made a few keeping mistakes I thought. His batting was all class no doubt but he has two jobs in a test, he did one very well and one he could of done better.

Explain to me what Ponting did right? Poor fields and poor bowling rotations I thought... as did both TV and Radio commentators. There was no moments when I thought 'great captaincy'.

Taking an injured player into the game was enough to warrant a poor captaincy comment alone, fair enough it was extremely selfish of Clarke to play and on that basis should really be dropped for the next test, but Ponting obviously has to have some input on the team selection as well.

Katich- 4, got a start and did not go on with it. You get 50, you should get a ton on that pitch!

Watson- 7, solid in both innings and good with the ball.

Ponting- 3, poor. A 50 in the last dig does not change it. Soft as well, should have ruled Clarke out.

Clarke- 0, selfish.

Hussey- 8, great knock.

North- 1, good with the ball.

Haddin- 7, still is poor behind the stupms.

Johnson- 0, gosh awful

Siddle- 5, 1 good spell.

Doherty- 2, poor.

Hilfenhaus- 4, not our worst, not our best.

Ponting- 3, Poor fields and bowling plans in the second innings and made no runs in the first innings. 2nd innings was junk time.

Clarke- 0, no runs, droped catches, shouldn't have played.

Hussey- 10, great knock, catches, good game.

North- 1, bowled ok, can't bat.

Haddin- 7, batted well but can't keep.

Johnson- 0, 0 wickets, 1 dropped catch, 0 runs, hopeless.

Siddle- 5, bowled well in the 1st innings, wasted the new ball and bowled the wrong areas the 2nd innings.

Doherty- 2, no variation at all, nothing up his sleeve, no bowling smarts.

Hilfenhaus- 2, Bowled too short and bowled the wrong areas. The dumbest bowler that I have seen don the baggy green.

Katich- 3, alright first innings, second poor, didnt bowl

Watson- 8 bowled decently and batting was solid

Ponting- 2 terrible fields, poor in first innings

Clarke- 0, why play?

Hussey- 10 couldnt do much more

North- 0 his job is to make runs, not take wickets

Haddin- 8, batted well, keeping not the best

Johnson- 0 disgusting

Siddle- 4 showed the when not on song he is average

Doherty- 4 tried hard, should of got a few wickets in the 2nd innings

Hilfenhaus- 2 did nothing after the first over of the match

Watson - 5 Bowled well for no reward but batted well
Ponting - 4 Disappointing first innings, did well in the second. Surprisingly this match lifted his average.
Clarke - 0 Only 9 runs and a dropped catch or two
Hussey - 10 Not sure how he could be given anything less after 195. The only reason we didn't win was bowling.
North - 0 You're not payed to bowl.
Haddin - 9 Very good batting. Dropped the Siddle catch but it didn't hurt us.
Johnson - 0 Provided nothing
Doherty - 1 Surely this guy can't be our best spinner
Siddle - 5 Brilliant first innings but no results in the second.
Hilfenhaus 2 Can't give any higher for 1/142.

Katich - 5 Did his job in the first innings, probably should have gone on with it though.
Watson - 6 He was solid with the bat, and his wicket in the first innings was crucial, it showed the others where to bowl. Bowled poorly in the second innings, despite the fact that he should have had one wicket.
Ponting - 3 Junk time 50 does not redeem him in my eyes. Poor captaincy, failed with the bat when it mattered.
Clarke - 0 Failed with the bat, dropped a sitter, should not have played.
Hussey - 9 Maybe harsh to not get 10, but it was not a match-winning performance, and in my eyes 10/10 is a match-winning performance.
North - 3 Failed with the bat, again, the 3 is for his bowling which was handy.
Haddin - 7 Poor keeping drags his score down. Over 20 byes in the match is not acceptable and he dropped a catch.
Johnson - -4 Yes, that is minus four. Dropped a fairly simple catch, bowled absolute trash, no runs, conceeded far too many when bowling. Must be dropped, you cannot perform like that and expect to play the next match.
Doherty - 5 He bowled okay, turned it a fair bit from day one, and should have had both Strauss and Cook out at various points in the second innings.
Siddle - 6 Two brilliant spells and bunch of poor ones. Not a real opening bowler. Bollinger or Harris should come in for Johnson to open with Hilfenhaus, Siddle bowls first change.
Hilfenhaus - 5 Bowled well at times, got us off to a flier and so nearly had Strauss first ball in the second innings. He suffered from a lack of pressure at the other end. Can't give higher than 5 when he only got one wicket, though.

Quite true. The only reasons I didn't give a 10 was that he offered a chance(should of been out) and think 10 really needs to be a match winning back against the wall type knock.. really as England, Haddin and then Australia today showed it was very easy to make runs on the wicket but still the best for us no doubt.

I was listening on abc radio, but I kept hearing regularly... "...not really a lot Haddin could do about that..."

The catch even he would say he should of taken as a wicket keeper. Not being one myself I am no expert but there were things like the byes to Doherty when he hit the crack and they said the same on the feed I was listening to that the second one he shouldn't of let go... he should of seen it was about to pitch in the same spot but he was caught still going the other way.

Haddin is a dodgy keeper for sure, but the byes today were not his fault.

keeping to johnson at the moment is like trying to keep to harmi 4 years ago.

At least 8 of the byes should have been wides.

Second Test;
Katich - 4 - Fairly unlucky and has unfortunately played his last test. Knowing the selectors mentality, Hughes will be over looked for Cowan.
Watson - 5 - How many starts do you want to make?
Ponting - 1 - In serious trouble
Clarke - 3 - Needs a first innings ton.
Hussey - 6 - Didn't quite get the luck like at the GABBA, catching Trott could have changed the game.
North - 0 - This bloke is still in the team why? - Usman please?
Haddin - 4 - Not much he could do really.
Doherty - 0 - Shouldn't be playing and knows it. Hauritz surely back.
Harris - 5 - Bowled without luck.
Siddle - 0 - Doesn't do enough. Hilfenhaus back in.
Bollinger - 2 - Had a stinker.
