He will also get kicked off the park a bit, which may not be a bad thing in terms of toughening him up. But yes, a slightly strange choice of League given his skill set, but we just want him playing regularly before the Asian Cup.

Brad Smith loaned to Seattle Sounders. Saw a staggering stat on Twitter, he has played more games for Australia than club games in the last 5 years!

Why is it nobody seems to want him, he was ok at world cup, but France and Denmark didn't really attack him. Did victory really not let him go to Europe a couple of years ago, or was that just a made up story.

Martin Boyle has recieved his Australian citizenship and is expected to lineup against Korea.

I have him as being one of our best in the Asian Cup and will more than cover Arzani for now.

Has been in ripping form for Hibs the last 2 seasons, one of the most dangerous players outside of Celtic in the SPL.

Has something we really lack for the Socceroos, game breaking pace in an attacking position.

Really good thing for us that we managed to land him
 
Another set of horrible decisions by Aussies abroad choosing clubs.
Aziz Behich looked for a move in January away from PSV, however Dutch League rules forbade it. He is looking elsewhere come end of season if he doesn’t get game time.
Same can be said for Trent Sainsbury who has only managed 3 starts all season.

Has to beg the question, why the massive jump to sign for the Dutch giants. Sainsbury could’ve benefited from a mid table club and started whereas Behich probably aimed too ambitiously.

Ever since the Hans and Pim era, there has been this massive infatuation on the technical level of the Dutch. It wouldnt surprise me if young Australian players are being influenced and encouraged to go to the Dutch league like it's some holy grail of development.

Sainsbury's problem was taking the money on offer in China. Before he moved to China he was a nailed on start for Zwolle. Another season or so there and he could have joined a big team in Holland as a starting XI player. China kills player development for young footballers.

Behich was doing fine in Turkey. Dutch league isn't better than the Turkish league. Not the best move. For young aussie footballers Dutch Eredivisie is a great place to learn and develop.
 
Awer Mabil’s rise continues, playing 80 minutes as well as setting up Midtjylland’s winner against AGF in the Danish Superliga. Mustafa Amini played the full 90 for the opposing team, but couldn’t get the equalizer. Mabil’s club is equal first with Copenhagen in the league. To further highlight Mabil's incredible season, he currently leads the league in total assists with 10. A young shining light for Australia. Still in Denmark, Brent McGrath played the final 2 minutes for Esbjerg 2-0 loss against Hobro.

Aaron Mooy’s disastrous 2019 continued, with Huddersfield losing 2-0 in their EPL clash with Newcastle at the weekend. The Terriers are firmly dumped on the bottom of the table, managing just 11 points for the season. They are a whopping 14 pts from safety. However, Huddersfield finally broke through for a win overnight, beating Wolves 1nil. Mooy played a key part in the lead up to the goal, coming on in the 78th minute to ensure Terriers finally broke through in injury time. That is Huddersfield first EPL win since November 2018. Hard times indeed. Staying with the English Premier League, Maty Ryan started in goals for Brighton, however dropped crucial points to keep the gap above the relegation zone. The result ended in a 2-1 defeat against Leicester City. Brighton are 16th just 3 points above Southampton in 18th place.

In the tier below, the English Football League Championship, the race for promotion hots up for many Australians however just as dire, numerous Aussies are also in a relegation fight with 12 games remaining. The shock result overnight involved Massimo Lunongo and his side's QPR 1-0 win over Leeds at home. Luongo played a key hand in the lead up to Freeman's goal. He played the full shift however picked up a yellow card in the first half. QPR are in a safe zone for now, 11 points behind 6th place Bristol City in the promotion spot as well as being 12 points clear of Rotherham United in 22nd place. Jackson Irvine, another of Australia's prominent starter in the EFL, continues to play full games for Hull City, this time putting in a full shift in a solid 2-1 win over Millwall at home. The win puts The Tigers within reach of the promotion zone, 6 pts behind in 11th spot. James Meredith did not make the squad for the losing side. Irvine has started 20 times for Hull this season. Ryan Williams played 32 minutes in Rotherham's 1-1 draw with Reading. Mile Jedinak and Jordan Lyden did not play any part in Aston Villa's 1-1 draw with Stoke City. Adam Federici was an unused substitute for the opposition. Bailey Wright also did not take any part in his side's 2-1 loss against Birmingham City.

In the German Bundesliga, Mathew Leckie did not play any part in Hertha Berlin's 1-0 unfortunate loss against Bayern Munich. His wretched injury run continues, this time with a hamstring injury.

Over in the Dutch Eredivisie, where Australia has a significant presence with 9 players involved in the league. Alex Gersbach had game time for NAC Breda, playing 46 minutes before coming off in a 0-0 draw with Groningen. Ajdin Hrustic did not come off the bench for the opposing team. Dean Bouzanis and Denis Genreau stayed on the bench for PEC Zwolle's 3-0 loss to De Graafschap. PEC are just one point clear of the relegation zone in 15th place. Trent Sainsbury and Aziz Behich continue to play no part for PSV again, staying on the bench in their team's 1-1 draw with Feyenoord. Neither player has made more then 3 appearances each this season. George Mells was not named for Fortuna Sittard in their 4-2 loss against Heerenveen. Luca da Silva is a prospect to keep an eye on, he played a full game for Wilelm II U19 vs Utrecht U19. Dylan Ryan came on in the 21st minute to join his Australian team mate.

Scotland are another country with a host of Aussies involved, with 10 players competing in the Premier League. In an All Aussie affair, Dundee played host to Hibernian, losing 4-2. Mark Milligan had the last laugh, playing all 90 minutes in his side's win, playing as his usual defenive midfielder role. Full games from both Ryan McGowan and Jesse Curran couldn't help the home team to a result. For Hearts, Oliver Bozanic came on in the 68th minute in a 1-1 draw with St Mirren. Jordan Holmes was an unused substitute for the opposing team. Neither Daniel Arzani or Tommy Rogic played for Celtic's 4-1 win over Motherwell. They are both currently nursing knee injuries.

Elsewhere, Danny Vukovic suffered a nasty injury for Genk's Europa League clash with Slavia Praha. He collided with a team mate in the 53rd minute, and had to be stretered off. His team loss 4-2 and were knocked out of the competition.

Lastly, in English League 1, five players are involved throughout the competition most notably Kenneth Dougall who came on in injury time for Barnsley's 0-0 draw with fellow promotion battlers Portsmouth on the weekend. Barnsley are 2nd and in the automatic promotion spot, 2 points clear of Sunderland in third. Dougall has started 15 time for Barnsley this season. Cam Burgess played a full shift for Scampaignerhorpe, drawing 1-1 with Doncaster Rovers. He has played 30 games for the club, starting in 27 of those. Bradden Inman came on in the 46th minute for Rochdale's 5-1 loss against Plymouth Argyle. Ashley Maynard-Brewer did not make the Charlton Athletic's squad in its 2-1 win over AFC Wimbledon. And finally, exciting youth prospect Jacob Young played a full game in defence for Sunderland's U23, however loss 3-1 vs West Bromich Albion U23. Young is the son of Stuart Young, who once plied this trade for Perth Glory. The younger is currently 19 and in his third season on the Wearside.

Trent Sainsbury told he can leave PSV. Bit of a worry that our best defender can't get a regular gig in the Dutch league.
 
Thats right, Celtic is still a big club.... lol.
