First report for 2018.. As usual the EPL fixture clog continues.
Mat Ryan missed the earlier fixture against Crystal Palace, Krul replacing him in the starting line up in Brighton's 2-1 win. However he returned to the line up on Saturday (13/1) but he couldn't do much to save West Brom's first goal in the 4th minute. The game ended up being a 2-0 loss. Ryan has started 22 of 23 Brighton's EPL games this season. Over to Huddersfield, Aaron Mooy's team poor run of form continued. Losses of 3-0 against Leicester and 4-1 against West Ham (Mooy played full games in both) has Huddersfield in 14th place, 4 points clear of the relegation zone.

In the 2nd tier of England, the English Championship, a host of Aussies have been busy over the Christmas/New Year's Period, most notably Bailey Wright, where has been given the captain's armband nearly all season. His team Bristol City are surprisingly in 5th place and 4 points clear in the promotional zone. However Bristol are on a mini losing streak, with games against Aston Villa (5-0), Watford (3-0), Norwich City (1-0) limiting their rise to the top. Wright played in all but the game against Watford, and played all 90 minutes in each. However Bailey Wright did play the full game against Manchester City in their surprisingly competitive 2-1 in the English League Cup. The second leg will be played at Bristol on 24/1. Jackson Irvine has been in and out of Hull's side for the start of the year, playing 65 minutes in their 0-0 draw with Reading, coming off the bench after 61 minutes in their 1-0 win against Blackburn and playing the full game against Bolton losing 1-0. James Meredith was left out in Millwall's 2-1 lost against Norwich, however made his way onto the bench against Barnsley winning 4-1, he then played the full game against Preston drawing 1-1. Massimo Luongo played the full game in QPR's 3-1 win against Burton, he also played the full game in their 2-1 win against Cardiff. Mile Jedink returned to Aston Villa's team in their 5-0 win against Bristol City, but haven't featured recently in Villa's past 2 games.

In Germany, the Bundesliga returned to action over the weekend, with Leckie playing the full game for Hertha Berlin however loss 1 nil against Stuttgart. Hertha Berlin sit on 24 points in 11th place.

Most of European competitions are still in winter break, however a number of Australian players have been involved in club friendlies.
