Our selectors made a bad situation worse but the reality is our batting stocks are dire, it's the reason we won't do well in the upcoming back to back ashes we simply don't have the batting and in reality are hoping and praying that our creaking old batsmen can somehow pull of a miracle.

In most other era's a struggling veteran like ponting(one good series in nearly 3 years) would have been given the tap long ago, that he's still basically able to pick himself is testament to how ordinary the potential replacements are.

But that was compounded by the original bad selections. Had they made correct or near enough decisions earlier then there wouldn't have been the issues that we have now. For every batsman that was struggling they picked three bowlers instead of getting rid of the struggling batsman. Searching for a quick fix spinner and non-existent bowling all rounder while carrying blokes for no reason in particular. Not culling blokes from their position in either formats and not picking blokes because they don't like them sums it all up.
