Anyone got it? Is it any good, worth the $15 extra per month or not?

I had it installed last week, for me it is worth it as 50% is a tax write-off. Just last night I used it for Man Vs Wild at 2am, which i recorded and watched when I woke up....Will definately be worth it when the footy comes back.

Wrong. It is a completely different unit to the IQ.

It comes with two Austar Digital tuners AND a FTA Digital tuner. You can record any of the FTA channels as well as the Austar ones.

It does have its problems though. I have mine in my bedroom and it is rather noisy - even when switched off.

Also, you can't record Mystar recordings onto DVD via DVD recorders - macrovision protection.

I wasn't saying the box and stuff was the exact same, but Austar is Foxtel only for country folk.

And once 7 become digital Foxtel IQ users will be able to do all the same you said and more!

You could do that to channel 7 but you had to do it manually. Anyway for things like the footy when the shows never run as scheduled I always do manual recording to allow for the football running over the time advertised (which it always does).

If it's anything like iQ (and it sounds like it's more), it'll be worth it.

iQ makes Foxtel worth the money.

I have had it installed and its great so far. Saves me using the VCR everyday, means i can record two things at the same time etc.

Bloody annoying when you can't back up recorded programs. Anyone found a way around this yet?

Was talking to a Satelite Austar guy up in Qld.
He said someone has come up with card that gives you the lot for free
Wouldnt tell me where to get it though.
You could get it for the old analogue one for $100 all channels
They would change codes so you kept getting a new card for free from the guy.
Anyone heard ?

Just had MyStar installed. Dont know how i have gone without it to tell the truth.

Recording heaps of programs. I dont have HD tv either, and its pulling in my local stations in digital. Not HD, but SD. So no need for a set top box. I can also record my local stations through it. Value for money at 15 a month.

Agreed, being a shift worker, i let Austar work for me. Geez, you'd think we are all Foxtel/Austar salesmen
