Great Start to Aussie A! At stumps we're 4/304 with the Queenslanders leading the way (Maher - 150) and (Love - 76). From a WA point of view, Martyn made a handy 37.

Looking forward to hearing how Inness and Oldroyd go when they bowl

Looks like it might be Martyn vs Katich to replace Steve Waugh. Katich looks set for a big innings tomorrow, but Martyn's spot in the one-day side may see him ahead for the test spot. I'm a lefty so GO KATICH!!!!!

I agree, it'll be Martyn v's Katich for sure. Martyn will probably be the one, but I'd like to see Katich get in!

C'mon the WA boys!!

Hey um guys.....What about Maher, he just got 150!!!!! Surely that's better than the eforts of the other guys.

Sure he's not an alrounder, but S.Waugh doesn't bowl anyway! Could be a very handy run scorer (not that we need more run makers at the moment

i think who ever takes s.waughs place in this test should be seen as the long term replacement for either of the waugh brothers in the near future
maher has had an opportunity in the past and i dont see him as a regular test batsman in the future
it has to come out of martyn, katich and hodge

There's no way Maher will get picked for a test any time soon, whether he deserves it or not. Martyn is a dead set certainty, while Katich and Hodge seem to be those groomed for the future. Look to them being given a spot on the Ashes tour next year. Maher, Cox, et al seem to be on the next level in case any of those above them lose form. The pressures on and there's jostling for spots which can only be good for Australia since the West Indies aren't any competition.
