I'm not a fan of Cutting, but you're wrong about Starc. He's been consistently our best bowler in the limited forms for a good while now. And he bowls that unplayable ball just about every game.

i watch starch bowl last summer of cricket, he bowled erratic rubbish majority of the time then would bowl an unplayable delivery, but to his credit he has improved alot whilst he was over playing in the series against pak and in the t20 world but.
So you didn't really watch him during the Pakistan series and World Cup? Then you can't really comment on his bowling. Since getting some coaching with Akram and Co, his action has changed and he's become a 100% better bowler since last summer.

Having Wasim Akram speak to him even for a short period helped Starc immeasurably.

And yet we turned down Waqar Younis for the bowling coach role. Stupid.

Obviously don't want to give the South Africans a look at any of our front line options, no matter how small their chances of playing a part in the Test series may be. I don't have an issue with it really, this fixture means nothing.

I agree with this. Its a good opportunity for players like Butterworth or Coulter-Nile to acknowledge their hard work with higher representative honours even though realistically they will likely not ever play test cricket.

smith is a lower order batsman! period, crap technique, but good eye will never amount to anything great
cutting is nothing more than a tomato thrower & mcdermott needs a few lessons from hit old man! who wont get many opportunities because he comes from qld
starc is like Mitchell Johnson tall and fast who lacks control but cant bat. but will get many opportunities to learn and prove him self mainly because he is from NSW
bird needs another season under his belt to prove he inst a one season wounder
a crap bowler that bowls rubbish, eg cutting

starc is every bit like johnson can bowl the totaly unplayable ball but is often erratic, his batting abilty is nothing special he can hang in there like most bowlers.
I suggest you go back and watch these players, their techniques and results again. Some of your comments show you simply have no idea and rely on common forum heresay. Youre not adding to the thread at all. And does it hurt to re-read your post for correct spelling before you post? It gives me a headache reading this.

Looks like Amla, Kallis and co are going to be in fine form come the first test.

Seriously how is Khawaja not in the squad, Steve Smith again, give me strength.

My team- Quiney, Hughes, Khawaja, Ferguson, McDonald, Henriques, Paine, Johnson, McDermott, Bird and Beer.

Both Paine (busted finger again?) and Ronald McDonald (could barely move after his spell) might be in some doubt after seeing the Ryobi Cup game today

Would be devastating for Paine if he does his a finger again. Would just about be getting to the stage where he'd consider retirement you'd think. Lets hope it's nothing serious.

First thing that comes to mind is the fact that Usman carried on and performed like a baby after he got dropped last season, and hasn't made up the ground he lost last season - and he lost a lot - so far this season, while Smith quietly composed a pretty good season (average of 40 odd), great in the context of NSW's season, and has had a pretty solid start to this season. He probably would have been one of the first names down just because he's an incumbent member of Australia A whose form hasn't dropped off the cliff after being selected for Aus A like many of them (which I guess throws the spotlight over to Burns who has also managed to continue performing)

Just a question in regards to Alex Doolan & Joe Burns.
I haven't seen these guys bat before but too me they sound promising. Really need some young batsman stepping up this summer, what are there techniques like against both spin & pace?

Doolan is a very clasical first class cricketer, likes to play through the covers off the front foot, most unaustralian lately.

Can't buy that. A lot of players are mainly front footers now driving AND pulling. Watson, Marsh bros, Maddinson are four that I can think of now... one of my peeves with Watson is that he hasn't got much off the back foot against the quicks and it's criminal that any WA players are primarily front foot.
