Australia has been safe from the worst of the coronavirus epidemic and the worst of the hijacking of the BLM protests by the extremists. 👍

The wine and some of the boutique spirits are also very good.

America and Europe (like Australia) both have great coffee if you go to the right places. I felt like 80% of the good coffee i had in these places were from Australian owned/operated places though.

The US also has awesome beer, I recon Australia just gets 1st place though. What places have better beer than Australia?

What makes Australian coffee so great?

I do think so, and the coffee I've had in Europe, America and Asia just can't compare but I can't pinpoint what it is
Its the combo of robusta and arabica and the roast
I think we are more A and less R so flavour with body
Italian and French is too roasted and bitter German is under roasted we are mid roast so flavour and less bitter
We make it mainly to go with milk too other countries dont

So basically its a goldilocks thing not to hard not too soft etc etc

More to do with not following tradition but creating a product based on best research and taste similar to the wine industry

How else do you get your bowels moving? Cup and a half and I'm off for my morning constitutional.
“Stop everything! I don’t remember writing a check for bowling.”
“Uh, sir, that’s a check for your boweling.”
“Oh, yes, that’s very important.”
“Yes, sir. Remember that month you didn’t do it.”
“Yes, that was unpleasant for all concerned.”

It's the only great thing about Victoria, let em have it.

Nah….We have Dan the man.

anyone who can get up Murdoch's nose the way he has, is a ****ing legend in my books....The hatred is raw, visceral & naked for all to see.

Dan has exposed just how insidious the reach of Murdoch & his fed/intel cronies extends by it.

Australia is full of things that are derivative. Outside of indigenous cuisine(s) (and who on here really knows anything about that?) our food and drinks are based on something else from somewhere else.

The Germans really just make wheat beers, light lagers and dark lagers. They brew in accordance with purity laws from the 1500s. Go into a pub and there will be one or two lagers on tap and a few bottles. Go into a pub here and there will be a whole bunch of different beer on offer. Local mass produced, local craft, imported mass produced, imported craft. The days of a choice of one or two local lager on tap are gone, at least in the cap cities.

Wine is something we also make differently as a 'new world' producer. We do it scientifically to try and get a repeatable product as you do with beer whereas traditionally you made what you could with the grapes that grew where you were and had different results between vintages.

I haven't found anywhere that takes coffee as seriously as we do. A lot of Aussies probably don't like the way they drink coffee in Italy or Turkey say, but I've noticed in a lot of countries they just phone it in. Can go to a cafe and have a pastry that you'd pay $10 for in some hipster place you need to queue up to get into here, but a cappuccino means someone pushes that button on the auto coffee machine.

Not sure where to put this from an episode of Shameless reminds me of a lot of posters on this site. Bolded in bit particular made me lol.

"Are you saying our biggest client is asking us to sell something that is undrinkable?

Yeah, we're in advertising. That's what we do. Globally, three groups testing semi-positively in taste tests... Uh, Siberians, the Dalit caste of India, and the American hobo.

You mean... literal homeless people. Well, general indigents. These were all taken on the South Side. Homeless people, hookers, transients.

Bachman's not going to turn a profit - selling to those people.

No, no, no. But-but if we use them as influencers, we can crack the Millennial market wide open. They identify as poor or as victims of a society that doesn't care about them. Thing is, they're not poor. They just don't have the money they think they're entitled to, and we think we can capitalize on their complete lack of perspective. They're self-proclaimed hobos. We're simply offering them the chance to prove it."
