West Indies' poor performance in the series just finished doesn't exactly augur well for the return series here in six months' time.

I seem to recall similar comments the last time the Windies toured here.

In the end, despite Chanderpaul and Taylor going home injured, they were very competitive.

Obviously with their current batting woes, they desperately need Gayle back. This team would be competitive imo

Gayle
Braithwaite
Bravo
Samuels
Chanderpaul
Blackwood
Ramdin
Holder
Taylor
Roach
Bishoo / Gabriel

Yeah that ended up being a really good start to the summer. Gayle was absolutely immense - led from the front brilliantly saving the Adelaide test and they got pretty damn close in Perth thanks largely to him.

Despite being extremely disappointed when Chanderpaul was left out, I think doing a backflip now would only exacerbate their problems. Whilst I don't rate Dwayne Bravo much with the ball, I think he'd be a better solution if they were going to start handing out olive branches because he's shown that on his day he genuinely can be a top class batsman.

Adelaide gets the first ever day/night Test, Perth back on the Test roster, the Gabba to open the season once again . . . Hobart gets a Test and (insert mock horror tone here) Melbourne hangs onto the Boxing Day Test (phew).

Test draw out and about everywhere for the season to come, no ODIs or BBL or anything else announced as CA must be drip-feeding us

Commonwealth Bank Test Series v New Zealand
Thurs 5 Nov – Mon 9 Nov Australia v New Zealand Gabba
Fri 13 Nov – Tues 17 Nov Australia v New Zealand WACA
Fri 27 Nov – Tue 1 Dec Australia v New Zealand Adelaide Oval*

Commonwealth Bank Test Series v West Indies
Thurs 10 Dec – Mon 14 Dec Australia v West Indies Blundstone Arena
Sat 26 Dec – Wed 30 Dec Australia v West Indies Melbourne Cricket Ground
Sun 3 Jan – Thurs 7 Jan Australia v West Indies Sydney Cricket Ground

*day/night, pink ball

Tickets on sale next month I think

Grrr to the drip feeding. Glad the day night test is happening. Adelaide's old fogies must be happy :)

Would have been better if we played New Zealand at Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney. Hobart is the type of ground that would suit NZ bowlers and at least provide a good contest for the final two tests. More people and more exciting at the G if its a NZ 1-0 over Australia. Oh well.

Yep, New Zealand won the last test they played at Bellerive.

The Adelaide Test against New Zealand that will be the first ever day-night Test match should be an amazing spectacle! http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-new...book&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=short-url

But the Boxing Day and Sydney Tests will be against West Indies :( much better if it was the other way around. New Zealand would be more competitive and provide a better draw-card for those big Melbourne and Sydney Tests. Remember the 2012-13 Test series against Sri Lanka? One-sided as hell, Boxing Day Test was over halfway through Day 3  that's what I feel the series against WI will be like this summer :(

This summer's schedule sucks for so many different reasons for me.:thumbsdown:
Yep CA administration seem to be living in the past in a time warp in the 80's where the West Indies were still a major drawcard. New Zealand have just about the best side they have had ever so it's ridiculous they are not on the big stage.

The ball isn't ready for day night cricket
The day/night test is clearly a marketing move to get interest into cricket this summer, as this definitely seems to be the least appealing summer since 09/10. Looking at the last five summers:

10/11: Ashes
11/12: India touring, Tendulkar on a farewell tour as well as going for 100th hundred.
12/13: 3 test series vs South Africa, winner to become No. 1 team in the world
13/14: Ashes
14/15: India touring, World Cup.

This summer needs a big drawcard and the day-night test is it.

The WACA hosting New Zealand is good compensation for missing out on hosting the Shield Final
For me, having the kiwis is cancelled out by it being in the middle of November, when I won't be able to watch it.

Same here, I'll be able to watch parts of it, but I'll miss a shitload of it as well. :(

I believe New Zealand don't play here in late December-early January for the same reason South Africa don't: They want to host their own Boxing Day and New Years matches.

Cricket Australia know West Indies aren't a crowd puller.
