I agree, I think it fair to say that all of the main cricket playing nations have failed to live up to the standards that most people would expect. There are no innocent nations from what I can tell and saying that any are worse than others is splitting hairs.

I believe what you're saying is true, as a matter of fact I've been saying it myself for a number of years. We can give up on this generation of batsmen as nobody has the slightest idea what is required to play Test cricket. Even if we grabbed the next generation of players and taught them batting technique rather than placing all their emphasis upon "see ball-hit ball" it will take the best part of a decade before a Ponting or Clarke enters the 1st class scene again. Unfortunately, we all know this will not happen whilst CA's grab for cash continues, so who knows how long it will take, if at all.

I feel like someone helplessly standing by as I watch a loved one pass away. There's one comment I DO agree with Shane Warne, and that's if we don't do something about Test cricket soon, it will die sooner than we may think. Then we will be left with the truncated form of the game. T20 won't survive, because it needs something to be shorter than in order for the public to be interested.

You only need to see what's going on in local cricket to understand the game is dying. My club used to have 6 strong senior teams, it now has 3, and some of the lads playing 1st XI today would have been lucky to get a game in the 6th XI when I played. God only knows where CA thinks they are going to get the next wave of cricketers from.

last time ODIs in November, also v South Africa, in 2014, there were games at WACA (Crowd 9322), WACA again 10939, Manuka 10583, MCG 14177 and SCG 15830)

It’s pointing out hypocrisy. When other teams do something wrong they are always quick Australian last cheats. Atherton actually got caught for ball tampering

No, that was 1975. The 1972 Headingly was known as the Fuserium Test, where some disease that doesn't thrive at all in those conditions, apparently infected the pitch but the rest of the playing area was unaffected .... or so the poms wanted us to believe.
