Of course the bloke who took 5 wickets loved it, as did Starc who produced his best non pink ball bowling in 5+ years probably!!!
Using that logic, then that explains why batsmen who didn't get dished up their usual run fest conditions are going to be critical of the pitch.

Now Sehwag having a sook too. 'Mind boggling hypocrisy' apparently. Give us a spell. Whenever India come these days we're scared to prepare anything but dry, lifeless, bull s**t tracks despite the nonsense we know we will get when we play there.
Sehwag must have forgotten some of the goat tracks India has dished up over the years.

To me, a "dangerous" wicket is one of variable bounce and pace. Balls spitting off a good length and hitting batsmen above the chest, balls hitting cracks and skidding along the ground, etc. I saw none of that. People can point to the Cummins dismissal, but the truth is Cummins played that very poorly and contributed to his downfall. The Warner dismissal in the 1st innings is a ball you can get at times, even on good wickets. Sub-standard pitch, maybe, dangerous, never.

I can think of a dozen WACA pitches from the 80's/90's/00's that were far more dangerous than that.

As I can South African tracks.

It had seam movement and bounce, but you didn't get the balls that stay low to a knee roll off a crack one delivery and almost hit the sight screen the next.

Never seen a nation more nowhere than South Africa. De Kock pushed out for political reasons Markram dropped.

The quota policy is hurting the side. Bavuma went okay but 89 test innings for one century.

South Africa’s fixation on race is toxic, they were going on about Bavuma being the first black player to make a test century. Despite Ashwell Prince making 11 test 100s. But because he isn’t dark enough and is only a cape coloured they don’t count it. It’s pathetic.

You realise they're selecting bats with a 20-30 average right? They're not leaving out 50+ average lads because they're white, they don't have them.

Whatever quota policy they have is doing * all to South African cricket. They're just in the same place we were in the years after our golden generation where the batting talent well just dried up. The only difference is at least we had Smith and Warner to get us through that period.

Also, wasn't there a pitch in Sabina Park in the West Indies vs England '97 that play was abandoned after like 7 or 8 overs because of how dangerous it was?
Yup, it looked like a mirror from memory.

And it’s not mischief to observe, around issues such as pitches, the preponderance of commentators who batted rather than bowled for a living.

It’s possible, actually, that the commentators let the batters off a little lightly. The Australians came in rather flattered by their numbers against a weak West Indies, and seemed at times a bit nonplussed by having to fight – after all, nobody’s place was in danger, and another Test was just around the corner.

South Africa’s batting stocks, we know, are unprecedentedly low, and here were further reduced by the decision to play five specialist bowlers when, in these conditions, four would well and truly have sufficed. The line-up, like the Chevrolet Corvair, was unsafe at any speed.

Trust Gideon to call time on the hysteria spurred on by pampered modern bats. "Unsafe?" Spare me.

They need to focus on picking the best possible side and not looking to fill quotas.

To be fair some of the white players they have also gone for are very questionable.

FC records of players in the team

Erwee is 33 only averages 37 with 11 100s

Van Der Dussen is 33 averages 41 with 17 100s

Zondo is 32 averages 31 with 13 100s

Bavuma is 32 averages 37 with 15 100s

Players outside of the team

Ryan Rickelton is 26 averages 53 with 14 100s

Raynard Van Tonder is 24 averages 46 with 7 100s

Janneman Malan is 26 averages 48 with 13 100s

Josh Richards is 24 averages 49 with 10 100s

David Bedingham is 28 averages 48 with 13 100s

While arguments will be made that Bavuma has been one of their best performing batsmen at test level over the last 3 years

867 runs from 24 innings (4 not outs) with zero 100s isn’t a glowing endorsement. While Bavuma would be the last of those 4 names to get dropped they shouldn’t be persisting with those 4 players. One of those 4 at least has to make way for someone younger who is performing at FC level. Give them a chance if they make the most of it then look to move on the next bloke.

OK cricket persons, can I get some help?

I am in a little competition and need to tip who will score the most runs in the Boxing Day test.

What do you guys think?

Lab or Smith, I’d go Smith

Yes and the ICC rates pitches ffs. It will be rated the same way as any crazy turning pitch in India.

What is Sehwag expecting, groundsmen killed?

We also won the offending test in Pune in 2017.

Honestly 4 pitches like pune is probably our only chance to win in india, pitches that are spin friendly but decent for batting well india are going to just grind us down on those but 4 bunsens? we at least have a shot of getting lucky on them and winning series.

Dunno guys, maybe we should listen to the match referee....

Below average is just your PR thing. Wasn’t rated poor though as expected. Don’t worry the soft batsmen with no techniques will get their roads soon

Of course it was below average, it had the utter temerity to offer a bit to the bowlers for once.

Nah, we have another test in Dharamsala, it’s still probably the most fast bowler friendly pitch in India and Yadav took the most wickets in the only test played there (against us in 2017).

That’s one of the key tests.

As you said, another Pune style Bunsen where Lyon and a Head style part timer bowls hand grenades is our other opportunity.

If we want to do anything in the series we have to win Dharamsala.

Pretty much what was expected though? certainly not a dangerous pitch or any of the other crap people have been sprouting about it.
