Might be a bit late to watch any of this for you's in the eastern states, but should be interesting viewing nonetheless. Australia should win, but from what I've read and seen a little of, the Afghan's give a good fight. Looking forward to Maxwell debuting as well!

Very excited to see Maxwell getting a crack. Would be great to see him make it at international level.

First ODI played across two days.

If I'm not mistaken they're scheduled to finish around 2am over there.

Yep, 2am over here folks, so I'll still be up. ;) I'll be catching the 2nd ODI in Abu Dhabi though which'll be fun.

Would like to see Maxwell, Ferguson, Smith and McDermott in the XI today.

I think it was an ambassador from Australia of some sort. Not sure, but they must be short on commentators. Don't think Maxwell will get a bat unless promoted way up the order.

What a suprise, even against Afghanistan we still will score around 260-280

Been saying it for the last 2-3 years, until we get rid of this gameplan of aiming to score 260-280 and relying on bowlers to do the job, we will never make it back to being 1 of the top teams in 1dayers.

Play each team and each pitch on its merits, not some stupid pre concieved gameplan.

You are being a little harsh. The wicket is a bit slow, the ball is dying before it reaches the boundary and it's tough conditions out there. Also the Afghanistan fielding has been very good. They look professional and well-trained.

We just don't have the players to hit 300 often anymore. The only players who can knock it around at a run a ball from ball one are Mike Hussey and Mitchell Johnson and Johnson is hardly reliable.
