India doing that is more likely to lose them the match, I'd say.
They play Lyon better when they look to be aggressive and score runs off him so it could be their best chance of a draw or a win.

Still think they are unlikely to win it but if they get to tea without losing another wicket they'd have to be a chance.

Blind man Freddie would prefer Smith. After Haddin sent the night watchman in instead of himself (to no avail) in the first innings, I think he's more Captain Caveman than Captain Courageous.
You don't think that call would have been made in consultation with the coaches?

They need less than 200 now, they can treat it as a one dayer now. Australia winning is out of the question IMO. Hopefully we take a few wickets soon and they play for the draw, which I suspect will happen.

That's clarkes summer done
Hard to feel much sympathy, he refused at any point to give his back the complete rest it needed and it helped contribute to multiple injuries, real troubling thing is the medical staff CA have on staff they are either flat out incompetent or they are simply unable or unwilling to stand up to senior players and make them sit out when they obviously need to sit out.

He wasn't ready to play but wanted to be out there for Hughes honour. I'd hate to be the one who tells him "sorry mate you're not right to go, you're not playing."

I'm not sure which commentator on the radio said it at the time, but apparently the decision is left to each batsman, if they want a night watch man they get one, if they want to go out and bat they bat

It was haddins decision but Lehmann would have at least condoned it

Last we will see of Clarke for a while. Got me buggered why he wasn't just sitting in the slips or gully.
I have a chronic back that is apparently similar to Michael Clarke. Fielding in slip can be the worst thing for it. Standing still, going up and down, no good. The best thing for a back like Clarkey is to keep moving, and I would think that is the theory behind fielding where he was.

Yeah, I'm sure there's a degree of discretion involved. Conditions are different in every instance. But I think it's just emotive bullshit to lay all the blame on a singular player for being "gutless" when the are a number of factors and opinions involved.

It is what it is.
