Stoinis averages 12 his last 15 ODI innings. Utterly shocking, getting to the point that we may as well just play Green because he cant possibly do any worse, and he gets the benefit of becoming eligible for county contracts if he gets a game. That's a win imo.

The other take is that they are corrupt pigs with their snouts deep in the trough - that is provided by Pay TV and gambling interests - and have abrogated one of their primary functions in promoting and proliferating the game.

James Sutherland and the other CA execs that made that terrible deal with Ch7 and Foxtel all left CA shortly after, they got their nice fat bonuses and ran, pretty disgraceful really, no doubt they also got some nice kickbacks from Murdoch for selling the exclusive rights to Fox.

There's no doubt the reporting is more accurate than ever.

Or, perhaps you do doubt it, not my problem.

Well done to them. Shame it took them being exposed to go down that path.

Doesn’t change the fact that CA executives are a bunch of money hungry campaigners though.

I remember looking at the ratings in 2005 and seeing that ODI would rate 2m. Now 358k is seen as a good number.
It is an absolute disgrace that it is not FTA. Some of my favourite memories of my childhood was the anticipation of the ODI tri series back in the day. My parents didn’t have Pay Tv Until I was 18 in 2007; I would’ve been heartbroken missing out on the one-dayers when I was younger.
Big bash was significantly overvalued by FTA in the last rights.
Sad thing is that the rights will never be fixed - they’ll have to at least cycle the revenue and they’re not getting the same revenue from FTA; so more money will come from Fox and more cricket will be shown on fox exclusively

I have more of a problem with Brendan Julian commentating than Warne.

BJ was a back up left arm bowler on an Ashes tour back in the 90s and now he tries to pass himself off as a cricket expert, his cricket knowledge is laughable.

Why do you have to be a superstar to be a good commentator?

Some of the best cricket brains off all time simply might not have been able to bowl it 140kph or had the hand eye and the reflexes required to play top
level cricket.

By your own criteria there should barely be a NZ cricketer alive qualified enough to commentate on cricket and Ian Smith certainly isn’t one of them with his record.

The first men's international cricket of the summer is upon us! Just over an hour to go, can't wait.

Hopefully we get to see a bit of Cam Green this series.

Australia XI: David Warner, Aaron Finch (c), Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey (wk), Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood

India XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli (c), Shreya Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah
Thanks for the invite, but I was travelling from Adelaide to Outback NSW on biz.
Only just saw it (11.10p.m. Saturday night).

Finch/Warner were veryvery good, but Smith (a ton in 62 balls!! :eekv1:  this late in his career) and later Maxwell were awesome --- combined yield, 150 runs in 85 balls.
Smith's comment about finding his hands in the last few days is ominous for oppositions all over the world. I expect him find new levels of weird excellence over the next 2 years and would not be surprised if he lifts his Test average to 70+.

The good news is India’s 4+ hour bowling effort was only 1 over short...

For the 4th consecutive ODI, the Indian players have been fined, but King Kohli is safe due to changed rules, how convenient

Our blokes have to take some of the blame. Smith and co changing gloves every second over is a joke. Smith changed gloves after his first 8 balls...fair dinkum

Don't think we need Labushagne in this side we could play Abbott or Green or Agar or another allrounder
I was just thinking that out Labs/Stonis in Abbott/Moises/Green

The Indian side were fined 20 percent of their match fee I am led to believe. Would have been 40 if they were 2 overs behind?
As Roota alluded to earlier, the continual changing of batting gear needs attention. Perhaps the umpires on the ground can tell the 12th man to bugger off.

I recall Richie Benaud saying that the front foot rule in relation to no-balls were I quote "a colossal waste of time", and that was in Test cricket. And what of leg side deliveries that are automatic wides? Marginal at worst. Unless they go past the markers on the crease, fair play. Call wides if it becomes a trend or tactic.

Is Stoinis available?
If not do we go with a specialist batter in wade, a Spinning all rounder in Agar or a like for like in Henriques or Green.
Can Maxwell and Marnus bowl 10 overs between them?

Yep, been on about this for years. The batting team probably wastes more time than the fielding team. A batsman cops a knock and instantaneously out come all the physios and fitness tests. While this is going on, out come the drinks and players standing around as if they're at a family BBQ.

When I played, you copped a whack, you gave it a rub and a shake and got on with it. If you realised after a couple of balls you have a genuine injury that required treatment, you RETIRED HURT and left the ground. I've seen delays of up to 10 minutes sometimes while a batsman stands there talking to a physio, the magic spray (God knows what that does) and of course someone rushes a drink out to him .... why you suddenly need a drink because you've been hit on the finger I'll never know.

When a player gets hit on the helmet, out come the doctors testing the player for concussion, whether he's okay or not. They know the batsman is going to need another helmet, but they wait until everything else is out the way, discussions, drinks, etc, before they call for one. Why don't they bring one out straight away? I miss the days of a helmet-less Viv being hit on the head, giving it a rub and then facing up to the next ball.

As for the gloves situation, we need to have a rule that batsmen can only change their gloves during a scheduled drinks break. There's no need for it.
