He may have been a chucker but I wish Murali was still out there to create some interest instead of the trundlers Sri Lanka are currently wheeling out.

Sri Lanka's pace bowling stocks have never been great so they need a good spin bowler or two to make up for it and provide a contest.
Perera is a good bowler, he's just had the same thing as what happened to Herath where he could rarely get a look in overseas since there was no need to play two spinners. Sadly he's too old now to have much chance of improving on that, might be worth trying to blood someone younger overseas.

So business as usual.
Yep.

Still, prior to this innings, I had no idea why Marnus was even in the Australian setup. He's gone a long way to convincing me that he is worth persisting with, has a good compact technique and has a good range of strokes. Just needs to maintain concentration.

Pretty disappointing considering how solid he looked. Most of our wickets have been due to complete false shots and brain explosions.
Disappointing but for young cricketers trying to establish themselves at the highest level it's a pretty understandable one. 19 from his maiden ton in front of his home fans, worked very hard with lots of 3 due to a slow outfield, sees the long break 10 minutes away and just gets a little lazy either thinking too far ahead or just being a bit too comfortable. That will sting him but I think he'll be better for that reality check.

And com8ng into the night session. Possibly the worst way to start a test career
On the plus side, the SL attack will be pretty tired by now, and I'd rather see him coming in with Aus sitting on a lead of around 100 as opposed to if Head and Marnus had piled up a lead of 300, and Patterson was expected to go out and be bombs away from the word go. In the current spot he should be able to settle in and play his natural game.
