I've had enough of Kia Hotshots, Optus sounds of the game, Birdseye Hawkeye and the Intel Ultra Vision (sounded better when it was just referred to as Slo-mo Extreme).

It's good to hear when they're cracking the shits. But the cmons and the fist pumps etc. I don't like.

It's just close ups sans commentary. An infinite improvement over their regular coverage IMO.

Sandy Roberts is the most annoying tennis 'commentator' ever.

I mean I come home from a week at the tennis and now have to put up with his unbelievably irritating commentary. It's a joke. He whispers, he continuously states the obvious, he comes up with pointless facts as he tries to pass for actually knowing something about the game. And the rest of the commentary team isn't much of an improvement, 7 actually got someone decent in Sam Smith and they don't even keep her for the Aus Open.

Look at the guys we get for the Masters Series events on Fox, now they are the best of the best. Having good and interesting commentary makes a massive difference, and having to endure Sandy Roberts is pretty painful.

I don't watch the women's game, but I listened to Molik for half a set (I know, not much) and she seemed alright.

As usual, my main gripe this year is that they keep showing us matches involving an Australian and/or a high-profile seeded player. Instead of what are genuinely the best matchups. As a result, we get fed plenty of so-so straight sets matches that just make me want to turn the TV off a lot of the time.

I guess we should be thankful they actually showed us Monfils and Tsonga yesterday, and about a set and a half of the Del Potro-Cilic beauty today.

Unfortunately, though, all we saw (amid all the ads, promos and the joke of an interview between McAvaney and Bartoli - Q: "Jee, Jelena Dokic is going well; what do you think about her?") of another great match between Safina and Cornet was the last five games.

And, to me, this comment from Matthew White absolutely encapsulates everything about 7's coverage:

"We're keeping an eye on this one, because the winner could play Jelena Dokic in the next round."

The way they treat their viewers like fools is just pathetic.

That's exactly the sort of thing they've done before.

Last year, after all the Australians had been knocked out of the singles, they showed a full match involving Molik in the women's doubles in preference to men's fourth round singles matches going on at the same time.
