Re: Australian Open 2010

Showing frustration after an error in a close match? Scum. Truly a despicable person.

People hating Fed is basically proof that anyone good or successful at what they do will have haters. It doesn't matter how nice a person you are.

I forgot the match but I think it was against Safin in 2005 AO, basically EVERY unforced error he did a scream. You also have some pretty idiotic logic, I like plenty of other successful sportsman in Federer's tier, do your self a favor and watch his post match interviews for losing matches, shows no regard to the opponent whatsoever and spills out the excuses unlike someone like Nadal for example who praises the efforts of the victor.

Yep. Federer is just about the perfect role model. I don't understand the people who just try to find faults in all the sporting superstars.

Re: Australian Open 2010

yea Federer has a bad personality, the greatest trick he has played on mankind is fostering his clean, good sports, gracious and humble image when in fact he is quite the contrary.

Good to see some people other than myself see through it though. He is always making excuses and saying stupid shit, just look at his post match interviews and idiotic screams after some unforced errors in a close match.

I had a similar view of Safin. Everyone seemed to be charmed by him and thought he brought some 'personality' to the game, but I thought he was just a ****wit who cried like a baby when things did not go his way. Douche bag of the highest order.

Re: Australian Open 2010

anybody hear the background music just then after the ad break? racking my brain on what band that was

edit : nevermind, just came to me. modest mouse - float on

Re: Australian Open 2010

I can't stand Federer either, but I enjoy watching him play against the top players, especially Nadal. Certainly makes for an excellent tennis spectacle, particularly from a neutral viewpoint.

I'm sure all the 'pro fed anti nadal' and 'pro nadal anti fed' fans (myself included) would have to agree that watching them go head to head is fantastic for the sport. I love the rivalry and tennis will have lost something special when it ends.

I loved Safin, but maybe that was just because I backed him at $51 the year he beat Hewitt in the final.

He was just a mad man, he wasn't a cry baby, he was just psychotic in that if things weren't going his way he would totally lose it.

Played the greatest match I've ever seen in person against Federer in the semi final here in Melbourne, was gobsmacked by the tennis he and Fed played that night.

Safin made watching tennis even more interesting, as at any moment he could explode or pull out a great set of tennis, he was that unpredictable.

Plus he won 2 grand slam titles, so unlike some whingers, he could back it up on court.

I wouldn't mind seeing his sister win this year, but i doubt it, she's as big a physcho as him, just she seems to hold it in till semi final of the big ones.

Re: Australian Open 2010

Hewitt and hack (Tomic) are my most hated players

lol a hack? I dont think so mate. He was actually dictating most of the points against Cilic the other night and using his brain. Just because someone hits it soft it doesnt mean they are a hack.

In regards to Fed: Its easy to be a good sport when you always win;)
Its when you lose that you are more tested.

But who cares, Federer is still my favourite player. I dont watch tennis to look for great personalities I watch it for the sport and Fed is the best player imo. To be honest I barely care what they say in press conferences except if they are analysing the game. Off-court stuff doesnt really interest me.

Re: Australian Open 2010

first sunday of the tournement is arguably the best day of the tournement. all the big matches happen on this day every year. we might see an upset or 2 tomorrow and i reckon murray and roddick might fall

Hopefully. I don't see A-Rod losing though.

Good day of tennis ahead tomorrow, and the crickets on.

Re: Australian Open 2010

Federer is my most hated player. I am hoping Hewitt gets up and wins the open from here.

wtf? how can all you guys hate federer? if you don't like him then fair enough, but those people that actually go out and hate him is a bit much don't you think?
he recently just organised the hit for haiti event aswell being associated with numerous other charitites such as unicef etc
all of which he does not have to go out and do, but does it because he has the power to reach alot of people out there.

seriously, hes got 15 slams hes got every right to say what he wants, if it comes off as "arrogant" the the uninformed tennis fan then bad luck, what do you want him to say when hes just destroyed/beaten someone?
All the top players respect him for what he does on and off the court, yet there are still "fans" out there that hate him with a passion, more likely to be those 2week experts that come out of the woodwork every year in mid jan and dont know stuff all about whats going on the tour the other 10 months

Re: Australian Open 2010

Tomorrows day session is sold out.

I need to get in for the Murray game.

Must of been tough typing that post with your head buried in Federer's lap.

True, but so has Hewitt, yet he is almost universally hated as being a cry baby.

I agree with you. Especially that last sentence.

Cilic was playing so poorly that even Fatty Dellacqua could have beaten him. Tomic not winning was criminal. To be fair though it was past his bedtime. Perhaps if he'd had his teddy bear to cuddle at the change of ends that would have gotten him through it.

Maybe there was a reason why Cilic was playing so poorly.
