Since no one has made it yet thought I would since the draw is out, don't expect any professional review like the ones Drummond writes

• Lleyton Hewitt has a bad draw, Baghdatis/Simon in the 3rd round, Federer in the 4th. Always seems to be in Federer/Nadal's section.
• Carsten Ball plays Verdasco in the 1st round.
• Bernard Tomic plays a qualifier, Cilic 2nd round, Wawrinka 3rd round and Del Potro 4th round,.
• Nick Lindahl plays Niemenin in the 1st round. Murray in the 2nd.
• Peter Luczak plays Nadal in the first round.
• Jason Kubler plays Ljubucic in the 1st round, Fish in the 2nd, Stepanek in the 3rd.
• Marinko Matosevic plays Marco Chiudinelli in the 1st round, Djokovic in the 2nd.
• Stosur plays a qualifier, Barriois or Amanmuradova in the 2nd, Lisicki in the 3rd, Williams in the 4th. Not the worst draw but playing Serena in the 4th isn't good.
• Groth plays a qualifier, Hantuchova in the 2nd, Na Li in the 3rd, Wozniacki in the 4th.
• Molik plays Coin in the 1st, Schiavone or Cornet in the 2nd, Radwanska in the 3rd and Venus Williams in the 4th.
• Casey Dellacqua plays Yakimova in the 1st, Sprem/Garriques in the 2nd, Venus in the 3rd.
• Rogowska plays Cirstea in the 1st, Dokic/Kleybanova in the 2nd, Henin/Dementieva in the 3rd.
• Dokic plays Kleybanova in the 1st, Rogowska/Cirstea in the 2nd, Henin/Dementieva in the 3rd.
• Rodinova plays Kuznetsova in the 1st round.

The draw for Australian Open 2010 was held at Melbourne Park on Friday morning, with tennis legend John McEnroe and Serbian star Ana Ivanovic taking part in the official draw ceremony.

Men’s defending champion Rafael Nadal faces Aussie Peter Luczak in the first round, while 15-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer could meet Russian sixth seed Nikolay Davydenko in the quarter-finals, with Davydenko beating Federer in their last two meetings. Federer opens against Russian Igor Andreev, while Aussie Lleyton Hewitt could be Federer’s fourth round opponent; the 22nd seed starts his 2010 campaign against a qualifier.

Last year’s semi-finalist Fernando Verdasco has a potentially tricky first-round meeting with big-serving Australian Carsten Ball, while Andy Murray opens up against a qualifier. Frenchman Richard Gasquet, on the comeback trail after missing most of 2009 after a drug-related suspension, starts his Melbourne Park campaign against Russian Mikhail Youzhny, while Juan Martin Del Potro, winner of the US Open last September, could face flamboyant American shot-maker James Blake in round two.

Australian Bernard Tomic, who became the youngest man ever to win a main draw match at the Australian Open last year, faces a qualifier in round one, with the winner of Marin Cilic and French veteran Fabrice Santoro looming in the second round should he advance.

Returning Belgian star Justine Henin will meet compatriot Kirsten Flipkens in the opening round of the women’s tournament, and faces a tough draw after more than a year away from the game, potentially meeting fifth seed Elena Dementieva in the second round. Fellow returnee Kim Clijsters, who won her first major back after a lengthy absence at last year’s US Open, could meet Henin in a blockbuster quarter-final match-up. The pair recently met in the final of the Brisbane International, with Clijsters emerging victorious in three tight sets.

Also on the women’s side, defending champion and top seed Serena Williams will open against Urszula Radwanska, the younger sister of 10th seed Agnieszka Radwanska, while Australian Sam Stosur and Serbian Ana Ivanovic both play qualifiers in the first round. Stosur faces a potential match-up with Serena Williams in the fourth round, while 2008 women’s champion Maria Sharapova will line up against Russian Maria Kirilenko in a glamorous first-round clash.

Australian Jelena Dokic, who thrilled local audiences with her barnstorming run to the quarter-finals last year, faces Alisa Kleybanova in the opening round. Dokic, who was eventually ousted by runner-up Dinara Safina, beat Kleybanova in her surprise run to the final eight in 2009.

In a nightmare match-up for commentators and chair umpires, women’s fourth seed Caroline Wozniacki will meet Canada’s Alexsandra Wozniak in the first round.

Doesnt say anything about Molik but she could meet Schiavone in the 2nd round

I was reading the ATP website and they said Tommy Robredo will play his 70th Grand Slam ....talk about consisitancy!

Alright draw, a few top players drew qualifiers first up. 16th ranked Yanina Wickmayer could land anywhere, after having to enter through qualification due to her suspension.

How ****ing often does Hewitt get drawn in section 1? The last time he didn't was the 2008 US Open (probably because he didn't play). To find a draw he was in where he wasn't draw in the first section you have to go back to Roland Garros 2008. Quite unbelievable.

Is there any way to tell who's likely to be playing on a particular day?

Me and the girlfriend are looking at going to a Rod Laver night 4th round match on either Sun 24th or Monday 25th, but I've looked at the official draw and can't tell even which half of the draw either day is likely to be, let alone try to narrow it down to possible players.

Is there a schedule that spells draws/dates out now that the draw has been released? Know that its possible that the matches will possibly be played during the day, but at least I can have a rough guide on which match-ups are likely to fall on those dates.

When he's ranked outside of the top eight, he has a 1/8 chance of being in the top section regardless of where he's ranked. To do it six times in a row is quite astounding, but hey don't let facts get in the way of calling people w***ers or anything.

In the men's, I think Novak can be very happy with what he's drawn. None of the seeds in his section should cause him any trouble (considering the form Chardy is in), and he should be able to build a nice head of steam heading into the second week.

Nadal should also be able to run into some form provided he doesn't get rolled by Kohlschreiber again.

serena williams would have to be first up on rod laver arena on monday, seeing she is the defending champ. you would have to believe nadal would be the monday night match as well. i think they always have the defending champions play on day 1 so lleyton hewitt won't be playing until tuesday
