Meh, he was a tosser during the match but said some nice words in the post-match interview. All is forgiven. Kyrgios showed some real guts tonight and I'm devastated for him. Exciting times ahead for him though :thumbsu:

We said the same about Tomic. Yes he has potential but that's all it is until it turns into performance. Does he have the drive to get to the next level? Many former greats were already grand slam winners by his age or not long after. He is still a mile away from winning a grand slam.

Still at least he has shown more heart and fight than Tomic and does have plenty of potential i'll say that.

Unless they are absolutely phenomenal I can't see players fresh onto the tour winning gland slams in today's era.

Almost sickening how our desperate need for a tennis player of some substance is putting so much pressure on a young kid like Kyrgios. Just let the guy play and stop salivating over him for winning a couple of sets against some nobody. If we let him develop naturally he may turn out to be a decent player.

Hewitt...Matosevic...Thompson...Ebden...Kyrgios...

Any male Aussie not choked while in a winning possie this tournament?

My understanding is that Kygrios could have got the trainer to come out at the change of ends within the time limit of the change of ends and he could have given him a bit of a massage and had a chat to him but that's about all, he would not have been allowed an extra MTO as such. I was wondering if the trainer could also have given him something to take (modern equivalent of salt tablets) that might have helped.

Anyway, Paire was ranked way higher and Kygrios gave it a great shot. Rome wasn't built in a day and there will be many more opportunities in the coming year if he can stay fit. Pretty happy with the efforts from all the Aussies today :)

Because he hit the net?

Still doesn't discount that it was floggish behavior.

And lol just saw that scream.

Lol your an idiot. I don't need to argue my point anymore.

Did you hear the gracious comments from Paire towards Kyrgios after the match?

Yet more evidence that you and everyone slagging off Paire are the idiots.

If Paire was Australian you'd be calling him a legend, you're just sulking because he beat an Australian.

It was a tough match and Paire deserved to celebrate a great come from behind win, suck it up.

Agree with this.

2 highlighted moments of this. In the post match interview with Rafa, first question was "how good is Kokkinakis?" Something to that degree. Jeez, try and keep it subtle.

2nd was when Bruce kept egging Jim to say that Kokkinakis and Kyrgios were the best tennis talent there is. Ffs keep a lid on it.

Im happy for all the excitement but sometimes you need to be a bit more classy about it. Its unbecoming.

Paire was hardly going to say anything else.

Of course. It's just bad sportmanship to cheer on the way he did when the opposing player is cramping and pretty much tanks the game. Its like celebrating when you accidentally hit the net and it manages to win you the point.

Just on that, I can't understand why players still give a customary apologetic hand to their opponent whenever a net cord wins them the point. All part and parcel of the game.
