I heard Hewitt is going to travel with him a fair bit this year.

that sounds promising. Hewitt and Kyrgios partnership might actually work, I don't think Rafter was the best mentor/coach for Kyrgios, they clashed too much. Plus, it seems like Kyrgios respects and is open to working with Hewitt.

Rafter is completely different to Nick, much more reserved and was very polite on court (I think too polite sometimes - a bit more aggro might have seen him win a few more titles I feel). As many have pointed out, Hewitt was also a brat once so when he's giving Nick advice he can say I've been there and done that. Rafter is a good role model but possibly not one Nick can relate too.

Oh dear Nick...

It's a shame that he is more often than not a head case on the court, because I love watching him play. If he turned his arrogance and tantrums into some form of angry determination he'd be top 10.
He is only 20. How can so many people say that he isn't living up to his potential?

Great reading over the last couple of pages.

I admit to being a fan of Nick's. The attitude shit will take care of itself. People who see it as a massive problem, obviously havent watched much tennis over the years. To think he is alone in this area is absurd.

His two biggest problems in this stage of his career are, His brother and his ignorance in thinking he doesnt need a coach and ecspecially at this stage of his career. As someone who has followed him closely his brother is a major voice in Nick's life/career and together they have developed an "us against them" mentality, which wont get him far. The coach issue is one i dont see getting sorted anytime soon , but at 20/21 its exactly the point of a tennis players career where they should be putting in their hardest work.

If he wins majors, all will be forgotten ala Novak, Roger, Murray, Hewitt etc.. The kid just needs to get his team sorted before its too late.

I don't get why you say "the attitude shit will take care of itself" when as you say his brother isn't helping.

Do you think it'll be that easy for him to sideline his brother? First of all he has to realise the attitude isn't working (and it isn't - his best tennis wasn't when he was crying about the umpire), and with his ego that will take a while to realise. Just like all those guys attitudes have been forgotten - they are forgotten because they mellowed eventually. And the influence family has on him would be huge - difficult to sideline that.

Well because he could have easily taken Berdych into a 5th last night and he's physically fit, you'd never write him off in a 5th set - yet he sooked & lost focus and ended up getting bundled out.

He could have easily won last night, and be on track for a 3rd quarter-final GS appearance. Who knows what can happen when Nadal is out, Tomic is top 15 (and Kyrgios would be better than him on talent surely etc).

So that's why. Instead he lost focus and will retain his 25-30 ranking. Plenty of guys in tennis have done big things by 21 or so.

Taking the piss with that first line? Arrogance is loved in all other sports but tennis is still a gentlemans game for some reason and that's why I am going to change that. You look at afl Franklin struts around like he is the best in the world and people love him for it.

What? People don't love Franklin at all...

Thiem, Coric, Nishikori, Fritz, Zverev >> Kyrgios

Most people on this board probably haven't heard of these guys cos they aren't dickheads grabbing headlines and the fact that channel 7 only do tennis 2 weeks a year

Croic who got thrashed in the first round, Thiem who has been past the 3rd round once and who is 2 years older, Nishikori who is 6 years older and Zverev who has no outstanding traits?

Fritz is the only one I'll give and he could be a bust

Plenty of guys?

Who in recent times has achieved "big things" in grand slams at the age of 20? Djokovic and Nadal are exceptions obviously and no one expects Nick to be as good as those two.

The main reason NK thinks he shit doesn't stink is because of his parents. He was probably told how great he was and was allow to get away with everything without consequences. Same with Hewitt. Dimitrov seems a nice guy and pretty rounded, doesn't get carried away when he is oncourt.

Good grief Hamish has Daria with him.
