The medical emergency was someone falling down the stairs maybe they have had one too many
The stairs at Rod Laver and Hisense ARE shit, but this is still bizarre.

He always has one of these matches every grand slam. He should win this set comfortably.

I'm just happy it isn't against one of the real top players

Big 4 not winning in straight sets = must be playing bad rather than the opponent playing good

The difference between the World number 1 and 14 in mens tennis is immense.

If Djokovic was on his game, Simon would just about have to play the perfect game of his life to maybe scrap a set, if that.

Yes, it sounds slightly disrespectful to Simon, but if Djokovic wasn't playing so badly today the match would be over by now.

Simon's lack of firepower really hurts him on his own service games imo

Unless there's something medical going on, how can anyone watch a match like this and not think that dodginess is rife in tennis?

He isn't on his game because Simon isn't letting him be on his game. He has a super annoying style to play against.
Yeah but Simon also has like 40 unforced errors. Poor by his standards, too. Anyone with flat power would have probably put Djoko away today, that's how bad he has been.

Talking of annoying grunters, Bautista Agut is bloody annoying.

Don't get me wrong, Simon is playing fantastic.

But I haven't seen Djokovic making those kind of errors for years. He's had chances galore, and on so many break points he's played ridiculous, unseen shots and random drop shots. Everyone has there bad days, and as pointed out earlier, Djokovic usually has at least 1 match per grand slam tournament where he looks out of touch.

He usually comes back to win, and then gains more confidence heading into the latter stages of the tournament.

Obviously hasn't watched the match or Novaks 60 unforced errors
