I rather watch the best players, and Ch7 replaying the endless replays of Hewitt is already getting boring, let alone if I had to hear it for more than 2 days of the AO!

Got tix for MCA Sunday. Will get the worst of the 4th round matches I assume, hopefully still something worth watching!

BTW I bumped into Thanasi a few days ago. Asked him about the shoulder, he says out for a few months. Bummer.

Oddly enough, I'm actually grateful the decision was made now rather than during the Open when the whole tournament would have been overshadowed and almost forgotten about.

At least most people have a week to digest the news, especially if you're emotionally invested in it such as the Bombers supporters no doubt, but also footy supporters in general.

Obviously Essendon's the big news story, but hopefully the Australian Open overshadows it and we can enjoy two weeks of superb tennis starting from next week.

Cant wait for it. My first Aussie Open live travelling over for it. I'm actually really excited about catching the stars training on the backcourts

For those of you in Melbourne with time on your hands today, men's qualifying starts today at Melbourne park. It's the first round of men's qualifying and free entry. Plenty of matches and I'd imagine it will still be going til 7 or 8 tonight. First matches start at 10am.

Sharapova hasnt played in any lead up tournament before the AO?

I just remember she pulled out injured before the Brisbane Open started.

She hadn't played one before and still made the final before. No shame with Serena beating you.

41 degrees today to 19 degrees and raining tomorrow. Crazy!

So generally when I go I get tickets to one of the big courts but thinking of getting a ground pass with a mate this year. In your opinion, what's better value: ground pass on one of the first four days, or one of the big courts for fourth round/quarters?

Depends on your budget. Also depends what you want to see. Personally if you don't mind the crowds, the first Saturday is the best day, smack bang in the middle of the tournament.

I have Monday RLA day tickets and Tuesday MCA day tickets. I am not sure if that is the best way to go but I get to experience both courts.

I hope they don't load up HA too much and give some good games to MCA. I am also hoping we might get two mens matches on RLA on Monday but I suspsect we will end up with two womans matches and one mens.
