When Novak, Fed, Rafa all have 10+ it is very generous to claim someone with a quarter of the Slams is an all time great. Very good player sure, but not a great.
It's all relative.

I'd say winning 4 in this era compares pretty well to say, Courier, who won 4 when basically you had Sampras not yet at his peak, Agassi not yet at his peak, Edberg beginning to wane, Becker in a title drought, and various other occasional stars like Chang, Stich, Krajicek, Bruguerra etc popping up from time to time.

Maybe not an all time great but a modern one.

Federer making that prestigious walk from Rod Laver arena, into Margaret Court arena, then out the doors, through the loading bays, via the carpark into the Channel 7 portables.

For a horrible moment, when they neared the car park, I was concerned they were going to make him pay for his parking.
Watch that last night too. Serena was pretty peeved at the walk. Pretty embarrassing compared to the walk the winners do after Wimbledon..

Disagree. Lets cut to the chase for a second. Federer before tonight was largely non-existant in the last 4-5 years (where Murray has been at his best), and Nadal has has that many injuries it isn't even funny. Yet still Murray has only got 4 Slams. It is why personally as much as I love Novak to be rated ahead he needs to get 19+ Slams (and that is pretty unlikely).

He's a very good player, but he's only won on 2 surfaces. Not even close to a great modern or not.

Why the heck does he need 19+ slams? Gets within 17-18 and we're talking GOAT status. He's got more Masters titles than Rog.

So we count numbers of slams for All Time Great and not look at context? That's silly.

Murray has won 3 GS, 2 Olympic Golds (Mixed Doubles Silver), Davis Cup, ATP Finals, World No.1, and a finalist 8 times in all 4 slams. Reaching the finals isn't an easy feat. He is an All time Great based on that alone. In a very strong era that had Djokovic, Federer, Nadal, Del Potro, Wawrinka, Hewitt, Berdych, Roddick and so on, he did really well and he is an all time great. Whether you, I, or others like it or not.

Well lets look at Federer's early days- beat Phillipousis, Agassi, Safin, Roddick x 2, Baghdatis then when Nadal comes in, finally loses. Roger's era wasn't exceptional either, and took full advantage of it. 7 straight titles against none of Murray/Nadal/Djokovic. Novak came in and took on Nadal and Roger at around their supposed best and beat them.

Would need to get as close to 19. A 2nd or 3rd French would help too as it would make him having a wider range than Fed.

2007 Wimbledon though.

Don't worry. I'm ultra confident that Novak will come very close. Have people forgotten just how good he is? Or do they just "live in the now" and react on everything that's currently happening. One minute Rog is GOAT nek minnit he's declined because he's lost in the third round of a tournament in the US (example).

Seriously?

That is why I don't have Roger as the GOAT despite everyone saying so. That said I do feel he would have probably beat Novak at times during his peak if he got a chance to. I do have Novak as the best- however he needs to finish with 17 minimum as a Slam number

I haven't forgotten. He had a poor tournament, but maybe this was the kick up the you know whats he needed. Stop worrying about spirituality and that rubbish, and concentrate on your career first.
