I see at least a plateau, more likely a decline, in attendance once Federer and Nadal retire. I'd wager on it happening actually. It really only is day 1-4 where there are court size issues. I know a lot attend on the Saturday, but if you have a ground pass it is only hisense that is worth it and there are only 7500 seats available now for ground pass holders.

Ground passes aren't really worth the paper they're written on past the 2nd round.

Ground pass for the first round is great. You can wander around and see some solid games on a variety of courts. When I had one for the first round a couple of years ago, I only saw a couple of women's matches in their entirety and spent the rest of the time wandering from court to court - sometimes for a game or so, sometimes for a set.

The Aus Open is the highest attended grand slam(though it is touch and go with the US Open). We have a lot of big stadiums which is great, 3 of which have a roof. The others slams are playing catch up in terms of facilities. Perhaps more roofs are needed on a couple though and perhaps copy the design of Pat Rafter on a couple more. But these big names are used to playing on these small show courts.

If you have ever gone to Wimbledon or the French, you will notice how much space Melbourne Park has compared to those confined opens. Especially the French.

Yeah I have done Wimbledon and a number of ATP events, your right with what you say but I guess I feel the quality of facilities is one of the things the AO is a leader in. They are the best but can get better.

I like the new plans, my point is I am looking forward to them being complete.

Yeah days 1 to 4 are the only issue.

How many people do Show Courts 2 and 3 hold does anyone know? MCA was great when it was a part of the ground pass, I always managed to get a good seat and it is well designed.
SC2 and 3 1500

MCA was my favourite court by far before all the changes. Used to host fantastic matches with incredible atmosphere. Never again unfortunately.

They've really dropped the ball with the analytics, website/app performance, this year. Trying to follow it last night at a bar was more difficult than it should have been.

The website still shows Kyrgios' fastest serve at 201.

Seems like IBM pulled the plug first and they might not have had the time to properly source out a new partner and are using William Hill on an ad-hoc basis. Still, IBM was always a bit limited (but vastly superior, and correct to what we have now), so there's an opportunity there to really revamp the way analytics are done in tennis, need a willing partner though. Would love to see that as an investment priority over the next 5 years.

I know a few of us question Zverev because he hasnt gone far in Grand Slams though Federer makes a good point here

Federer's press conference:

He's still very young, still up-and coming to some extent. He's still seeking the breakthrough on the Grand Slam level. I remember I had a hurdle to pass the quarters. I only did that back in 2003 for the first time. I was 22. Either I played quarters or I lost first round. That's what I told Sascha. I said, be patient about it. Don't put yourself under unnecessary pressure. Learn from these mistakes. Whatever happened, happened. Unfortunately you have to believe in, how you say, the process you're right now in. You had a good off-season. You're working hard. You're doing the right things. It's maybe not paying off at the slam level, but just stay calm, don't dig yourself in a hole. There's already enough stuff and pressure from you guys. I just thought some nice words would maybe cheer him up, get him over the loss a few more hours earlier than it normally would. It's supposed to hurt.

Watching Zverev play yesterday, he really does need to work on his mental game especially trying to close out a 5 set match. Chung was so cool throughout the whole match.

Went to the open today just with a ground pass. The organises need to give MCA back to the ground pass crew, it started as only rod laver was exclusive, then hisense, now MCA (all be it you can now get back into hi sense). I now question once they upgrade the show courts whether the value of a ground pass will be further diluted.

He (Zverev) is 20yo, without being sexist in any way, guys mature later mostly & it could be that Chung is an exception, rather than the rule. As Paddy said, he is a gun.

I love the stayers; so long, slow burn appeals to me. Fed should know all about longevity. ;)
