Grand Slam Australian Open - Day 6

Haven't watched De Minaur much overall but underwhelming tonight to say the least.

Playing way too conservative, doesn't really try to hit winners, just uses his speed to get to balls and get it back into play and hope the opponent hits unforced errors.

Kyrgios is easily levels above him as the best Aussie.
Kokkinos might be a sneaky chance.

'Actually the worry is either he's caught in transit ( unlikely ) or he has caught in the community - This is why I preferred the 'bubble' as opposed to quarantine and then into the community - Remember players have been out of quarantine for two weeks.

Edit - Found out he left Australia on February 9 means the transit/Doha is an option.

Keep banging that drum buddy.

Unlikely he caught it in transit? hahahaha.

An airplane / airport is the most likely place anyone is going to catch it.

But nope more likely he caught it in a city of 5 million people that has 20 cases

Biggest OTT thing ever this is at the moment. So over it.

Millman is solid but he’s exactly that. Get a bloke with weapons and he’s toast. Di Minaur is the same and Fognini has been as high as 7 in the world. He’s a MUCH better player with more weapons. Only way De Minaur was winning was if Fabio hit 50 unforced errors

No matter what way you spin it, Millman should not be losing to a player ranked 40+ places below - And you would expect, De Minaur to perform better against Fognini.

I don’t expect De Minaur to come near Fognini. One has weapons, one is a woeful Hewitt clone.

Poor Lleyton with no weapons - Only won two Grand slams and over a year as number one.

In an in between era sure. You won’t win nowadays being that type. You need weapons it’s that simple and every top player has them

Any player in the history of tennis who is number one or wins a GS has weapons - Your analogy with Hewitt is wrong.

Hewitt’s BH and ROS were elite in his prime. And obviously his movement.

Hewitt had just about the best ROS in the game - His dismantling of Sampras' serve in the final of the 2001 US Open was a joy to behold.
