Oh right and Hewitt hasn't? Look at his draw when he won Wimbledon. Pathetic.
You said it yourself, he's gets easy draws because he's SEEDED HIGH. Why do you think that is? He's stayed top 4 since 2003. Must be doing something right. Sure Hewitt got a tougher draw last year, but at least Roddick didn't take "injury" timeouts in nearly every match he played.
In case you didn't know, Lleyton has been knocked out of the last 7 Grand Slams by the eventual winner. So I don't know how you could possibly say anything nagative about his draws.

No suprises that a wce supporter would be defending a yank!!!!! OH and Roger Federer is also arrogant.

"The three matches I lost, in two of them I had match point so they got a little lucky."

"But I wonder why I always play so well, especially on the big occasions. It just seems to click for me."
Well there you go, he wonders why he plays so well, what a ********ing joke.

"I enjoy my game, watching myself, because it's so different"
PLEASE!!!!

So there you have it John!!!!!! Find something arrogant Hewitt said?????

Agassi - OUT

Safin - OUT

Nadal - OUT

Federer - Easy run to victory.

Only person i can see stopping him is Roddick, but Roddick would have to play to his best and the fed express to his worst.

Roddick won't last to the 2nd week.

It'll be the Federer/ Hewitt/ Nalbandian show.

The rest may as well go home...

Why don't you think he'll last to the 2nd week? Done it the past 3 years and when he lost he didn't lose easily. Or is he a bit too American perhaps?

I told you. I think he's overated. His entire game is a built on a simple two-hit combo. Big serve, then hit the cover off the short return. It's worked well for him so far, but more and more players are figuring him out by the month.

And how would've Roddick gone if he had Hewitt's draw last year. Just to recap, it looked something like this:

R1. Clement
R2. Blake
R3. Chela
R4. Nadal
QF: Nalbandian
SF: Roddick (or Hewitt in Roddick's case)
F: Safin

Honestly, I think there was a good chance he would've lost against Blake or Chela, and he had zero chance of beating Nadal or Nalbandian.

I'll give Roddick some respect when has a draw like that, or at least beats a couple of top 5 players in a major.

As long as least one of Federer, Hewitt, or Nalbandian are in the same draw.

That won't happen though.....

You underrate him. 0 chance against Nadal or Nalbandian? I don't think so. And he would have beaten Blake and Chela (even without taking fake injury timeouts) If all he had was just a big serve then why haven't other big servers had his success? You can't tell me he had an easy draw in 2003 when he won the US Open. Or even when he made the final of Wimbledon in 2004. Dent on grass is never easy and Ancic is easily top 5 on grass.

Hewitt is overrated, all he has is his mental intimidation, foot speed and injury timeouts. Oh, good to see he's over his "illness" today

Sampras? The difference between he and Roddick is that he actually had a couple of extra strings to his bow.

Due to withdrawal of one player you mean? Geez I love how Hewitt gets ONE tough draw and all of a sudden he's always had tough draws

Well the draw is done, and as always it is interesting.

Some interesting first round matchups -

Gasquet(14) drew Haas (unseeded) - you'd have to say a 50/50 match

Hewitt (3) drew Robin Vik - pleasing 1st round match for Hewitt but the real concern is who he will likely get in the 2nd round, the unseeded Andy Murray, what a blockbuster! Or if Chela beats Murray it still looms as an interesting one.

Aside from that also in his quarter Hewitt has the injury plagued and doubtful Srichaphan and today's injury Kiefer (ankle) there's also Philippoussis who drew Grosjean (25) which looks a good match,Ferrero(15) is in there as is Gonzalez(9), Monfils(22) and a potential quarter final opponent for Hewitt is Coria(6)

Alot of Hewitt's bogey players have drawn in the other half which is good for him. Players like Blake,Kohlschreiber and there are dangerous unseeded players like Malisse and Youzhny in the opposite half to Hewitt.

Ljubicic(7) drew Guccione in an interesting one and this is likely to be on centre court I'd guess.

Not too many interesting matchups in the rest of the bottom half. Roddick(2)drew a qualifier.

Funk's best matches of round 1:

Tommy Haas GER vs Richard Gasquet FRA (14)

Ivo Karlovic CRO vs Nikolay Davydenko RUS (5)

Andy Murray GBR vs Juan Ignacio Chela AR

Nicolas Kiefer GER (21) vs Paradorn Srichaphan THA

Sebastien Grosjean FRA (25) vs Mark Philippoussis AUS

Let's take a quick glance at Roddick's draw, shall we:

R1. Qualifier. That means a player outside of the top 100.

R2. Moodie/Hernandez. Not a dreaded matchup by any means.

(speculating from here)

R3. Taylor Dent (27). Decent player, but he's Roddick's bitch.

R4. Likely one of Stepanek(17)/ Baghdatis/ Bjorkman/ Ginepri (13). Ginepri's in the form of his life ATM, and Bjorkman's no pushover on rebound ace. Roddick may very well stumble in this round (if he makes it this far).

QF. I reckon he'll face either Ljubicic(7)/ Thomas Johansson (10) or Feliciano Lopez(31). I'd be most fearful of Johannson in this round, given his recent success here and his current form.

SF. Probably one of Gaudio(8)/ Blake(20)/ or my favourite for the tournament, Nalbandian(4). Good luck Andy... ;)

F. The other big guns, Federer(1)/ Hewitt(3), ect.... Once again he's not in their half.

And here's Hewitt's draw: :p

R1. Vik. Pushover....

R2. Murray/Chela. Tough matchup no matter who Hewitt faces. An unprepared Hewitt may go down...

(speculating from here)

R3. Probably Rochus or Verdasco (28). Round 2 will be harder than this match IMO. - An easy match I'll concede.

R4. It'll be either Keifer(21)/ Srichaphan/ Ferrero(15) or perhaps Seppi again. Hewitt should be fine in this match, although Scrichaphan's form's been interesting...

QF. Coria(6)/ Grosjean(25)/ Gonzalez(9) are the main threats in this round. Shouldn't trouble Hewitt too much to be honest. Maybe Grosjean if he's in good form.

SF. Davydenko(5)/ Andreev(23)... BAH who are we kidding? He'll be against Federer. And this time there won't be any Safin to bail him out.

F. Nalbandian(4) will surely make the final in a considerably easier half. To be honest, this match won't be any easier than playing Federer. His form is bloody sensational!
