I would say Nalbandian is a cert.

Year before last I backed Safin at $40, the next year he wins. That was unlucky too, he had a bitch of a draw and was totally knackered come the final.

Last year I backed Nalbandian at $30, this year he will win ;)

The order of play for the 1st day of the open has been announced, as i thought Hewitt and most of the Aussies will play on Tuesday, so if they get through to the QF - SF stage they will play on Australia Day.

I like the looks of Blake and Haas as smokeys, might have a look at putting some dosh on them.

Hewitt is a ********er but keeps bobbing up so might be a change, would highly doubt that he can win it.

Federer would have to be the favorite, and I think that he might just win it.

I'm tipping Nalbandian for the mens title. Has a relatively exceptional record against Federer and the masters cup in November is certainly not the only time he has picked off Federer at his peak.

He will be a problem for Roddick too, as Roddick has got a bit of a nemesis in the Australia Open as his exit against Schuettler, Safin and Hewitt show in the very later stages of the tournament show.

Upon thinking about it, Blakey is as smokey as people have previously poiinted out. He will cause trouble for Hewitt as last years second round match showed and it only takes Hewitt to be just off his game a bit for Blake to pounce and produce an upset which won't come as a suprise to me.

Today's Bets (16/1)

I think there are 2 good bets today along with a roughie.

Baghdatis over Gimelstob at $1.35 - Baghdatis was a revelation last year and had a fairly big fan club watching his matches. The journeyman Gimelstob shouldn't give him too many troubles

Ferrer over Serra at $1.90 - Serra has had a big summer already and I think he might be feeling it so get on Ferrer who is a seeded player and is good value here

The roughie is Bobby Reynolds to beat Berdych at $8.00 - Reynolds made the 3rd round last year here and in their only meeting previously it was Berdych who won 7-6,7-6 on a hardcourt. All that hardly means the odds should be this far apart. Put a small amount on him.

Yeah, that'd be a great final then. Nalbandian would win, surely. The confidence he has over Federer must be huge by now.

Nalbandian is now into a 5th set against some unseeded guy. He did lead 2-0 i beleive and could be knocked out unless he can turn it around!

Then again Nalbandian seems to play everyone in 5 set matches

Baghdatis smashed Gimelstob in straight sets, 6-0 was the 3rd set cruised it in, big support behind usually gets to round 3 or 4 down here improving rapidly one to watch in the coming years im not even sure if he is 20, always seems to run into federer though.

Well I for one rate Stifler's chances. He looked a class above Hewitt when the two met in last year's semi before fading out.

I want Lleyton to win, but have a bad feeling he'll get knocked out very early on.

Yep, I give him a great show...................

As do I!!!

Will go a long way I think!

Fair enough about what some people have said about his performance under pressure situations and one dimensional game but I think if he can pull it together it works in his favor!!!
