Who cares if Lleyton is Australian, if someone thinks he is an arseh*le or dislikes him then that doesn't mean they should support him simply because he's Australian. Id rather support a Spaniard that I find a great role model and awesome player than an Aussie I find a giant tool
well said.

The Australian Open is officially over.
Couldn't give a **** any more.
May watch the final if there's nothing else on.

As for saying you'd rather follow a Spaniard, well, I'd rather stick my dick in a blender.

Tomorrow -

Laver: Arnaud Clement/Michael Llodra [7] vs. Daniel Nestor/Nenad Zimonjic [2]

followed by

Jelena Jankovic [3] vs. Serena Williams [7]
Jarko Niemenen [24] vs. Rafael Nadal [2]

Night session:

Justine Henin [1] vs. Maria Sharapova [5]

followed by

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs. Mikhail Youzhny [14]
I expect Serena and Rafa to pound their respective opponents into submission. I really like Casey Dellacqua, but it was a blessing in disguise that she lost to Jankovic.

Henin vs. Sharapova could be interesting, but I think Henin should do it fairly easily. I am really looking forward to Tsonga vs. Youzhny. That looks set to be what they call a crackerjack.

Niemenen's playing great tennis. I was in attendance for his first 3 matches and he's playing very well indeed. His performance over the last 2 and a half sets against Fish was an awesome display of tennis. As Wally Masur rightly pointed out, he's a guy who gets everything back and who makes you hit the shot you don't want to. However in saying all of that, I agree, Rafa should win comfortably. He's just too strong and will wear Jarkko down. It's been a great tournament for him though.

I disagree about Henin/Sharapova. I haven't seen Maria play this well for some time and it's mainly due to the fact she's finally 100% healthy. She's often come to Australian underprepared but she's here to win it and she's certainly put herself in a great position to do just that. They last met late last year and it was the longest final in the WTA's history, with Henin just getting over the line. I thought Henin looked shaky against Schiavone in the 3rd round but had an extremely easy opponent in the last round. I'm expecting a very close match and I think Sharapova could put an end to Justine's winning streak.

Yeah, that thing about Rafa doing it easy wasn't a shot at Niemenen. I honestly haven't caught him yet this week, but his form from all reports has been fantastic. It's just that I think Rafa is getting himself into a similar zone and is a superior player, which is why I think he'll win easily.

With Henin vs. Sharapova, basically I can't see it being lopsided Sharapova's way. I think that Justine will be able to prevent that, however if Justine can get an early lead I've got a feeling the wheels could fall off the Sharapova wagon simply because she has barely raised a sweat this tournament. I guess we'll find out tomorrow if that's going to be end up being poor match practice (not her fault that she's been slaughtering everyone) or if she really is that irresistable. Henin will obviously be nothing like anyone she's played so far, so that's where my doubt comes from.

:thumbsu:

I seriously think Rafa will win it all. As I said last night, he's hungry, real hungry for this title and I don't see anybody getting in his way, not even Federer. He's simply on fire and he's hitting the ball as cleanly as I can remember. He was in trouble against Gilles who was playing unbelievable tennis in the 1st set. He found himself down 5-2 and faced many set points but once again he was faultless on the big points. Seriously, I've never seen anyone play the big points like he does; he never misses, regardless of the pressure. I'm going off on a tangent here but he is such a tremendous competitor and he's about the only guy who doesn't fear Roger. Rafa for the title.

Henin vs. Sharapova could be interesting.

How so? One I hate cos she's a weak individual who didn't have the dignity to play out a final, and the other, while being pretty I hate because she screams unnecessarily every time she hits the ball, even a drop-shot or touch volley in the first game. For me, it's absolute must-not-watch-tennis.

I am really looking forward to Tsonga vs. Youzhny. That looks set to be what they call a crackerjack.

Well, it is men's tennis, and should be of more interest to people to the encore. I'll be watching.

Anti-Hewitt, "YAY HE IS GAWN!", "I don't have to like him because he is Australian" type comments are soooo 2004.

But still soooo relevent today.

I don't like either of them as well for the same reasons you mentioned, but it's the current #1 vs. a former #1, both in good form. It should be an interesting contest.

Hewitt lost... same story every year :D

I'm of the same opinion, i dislike Henin and Sharapova for various reasons. Henin: Because of her attitude, if she wins she was the better player, if she loses she makes up a dodgy excuse (much like Hewitt) in that it wasn't that she was out played.... but she had a few set backs etc.

Sharapova because she is overrated (in both looks and playing potential), grunts too often and thinks so highly of herself.

Having said that, i'd rather see Henin beat her... as she is the lesser of two evils.

I think Tsonga might meet his match in Youzhny.

Federer can't get beaten anymore thanks to Tipsy, gave him the wakeup call he needed. He will consistently raise his level from here on in.

Berdych;s footwork is just not good enough as were his blown set chances.

Ferrer is looking scary good and could upset Djokovic given that Djoke struggles against Lleyton and Ferrer is basically Lleyton Mach 3.0

Youzhny will beat Tsonga and Nadal. Federer will easily win the crown again.Wake up me when A.O finishes

Jankovic gets broken in the second set, calls the trainer. Sun goes up, sun goes down.

She didn't use a trainer against Dellacqua, but that's the only match so far this tournament.

I know which side of the draw I want the womens winner to come from, so long as it's not Venus.
