Rogers: 88 runs @ 22.
5/10
Failed in the Second Test, but did dig in and make them earn his wicket in the First, which is more than can be said about some of the others.

Warner: 239 runs @ 60
9/10
Showed controlled aggression for the most part, with the emphasis on "controlled". Will still rue getting out to rash shots.

Doolan: 5 runs @ 2.5
1/10
Didn't get a chance to make up for his two failures.

Clarke: 57 runs @14
2/10
One start and three limp failures. Needed to stand up in these conditions and didn't.

Smith: 174 runs @ 44
7/10
Solid and consistent series with only one failure. Another one to show he has the temperament to dig in for long stints in tough conditions.

Marsh: 164 runs @ 41. 0 wickets
6/10
Another solid performer with the bat, getting starts most times. But was picked as an all-rounder and lacked penetration with the ball.

Maxwell: 41 runs @20.5. No wickets.
3/10
Underwhelming with the bat, although he did average more than Clarke and Haddin. No impact with the ball.

Haddin: 45 runs @ 11. 2 catches, 1 stumping.
2/10
No impact with the bat, and played some dumb shots. Keeping was fair.

Johnson: 6 wickets @ 29, 98 runs @25
7/10
Clearly the best bowler in unfavourable conditions. Some handy lower-order runs too.

Siddle: 2 wickets @ 108
3/10
Tried hard in tough conditions, but no impact against batsmen who took no risks against him.

Starc: 2 wickets @ 71
3/10
See Siddle

O'Keefe: 4 wickets @ 55
4/10
Not brilliant, but better bowling figures than some. Probably unlucky to get dropped in hindsight.

Lyon: 3 wickets @ 140
2/10
Poor, although had some missed chances off his bowling. Couldn't settle. Ineffective in conditions that should have favoured him.

Rogers 3 - Selectors probably want him in England next year. But must have a good series against India for that to happen.
Warner 7 - Probably the best of a bad lot. Gives his wicket away cheaply but that's part of the package I guess.
Doolan 1 - Looked all at sea. Offers more long term than Maxwell though
Clarke 3 - Failed miserably. Can't be too harsh on him though.
Smith 6 - Good. Should have got a ton today. Useful back up part-time bowler. Better batsman than I ever thought he'd be.
Marsh 6 - Will be picked in Brisbane. Will have more luck bowling there too. The only positive.
Haddin 2 - Can't count this match. Still best keeper in Australia, but there is a good batch behind him. Would be hoping he's not out too long.
Johnson 6 - Did the best he could in these conditions. Pakistan played him beautifully.
Siddle 2 - Tried hard as always but after getting dropped in SAF, did nothing here to cement his spot. BTW - why does he bat at 9?
O'Keefe 4 - Doubt he's Test standard but didn't do a lot wrong. Would like to see him get another chance somewhere.
Lyon 1 - Awful. Compared to every other spinner in this series he looked completely non-threatening.
Maxwell 3 - Shouldn't play any more Test cricket. Looked OK in the first innings before playing a stupid shot. Worth a shot. Maybe?
Starc 3 - Wasn't great. Wasn't bad. Will be the first bloke dropped. No one knows if he is Test standard. I doubt even he does.

Overall, this was a disaster. On the evidence of this series alone, only Johnson and Warner would probably get into the Pakistan team, and even then Hafeez's bowling would probably keep Warner out. Pathetic.

Honestly, if we were going to stick with a subpar Tasmanian at the top of the order I'd take Cowan ahead of Doolan.

I wouldn't give up on Doolan although it might be a while before we see him again. Take out that 89 at Centurion and the rest has been ordinary at best and totally exposed at worst. #3 remains a major headache. Watson will probably find his way back in, so will Hughes and S.Marsh at some point. Maybe it's time to get an established player in there until someone else emerges.

As for Cowan. Good on him. He earned his chance. He got his chance. Tried his best. And had enough time to leave no question marks on his ability. He's an Australian Test cricketer.

Rogers 3 - dug in and put a price on his wicket in the first Test, but looked all at sea during the second Test. Can see him being jettisoned, and in any case needs runs against India.
Warner 7 - loses points for needlessly throwing away good starts. However, he was probably our best batsman. If he ever gets his head sorted he'll be a handful.
Doolan 1 - was s**t. Can't see him playing again, especially given his Shield career on a whole hasn't inspired confidence.
Clarke 2 - unfit/underdone, and it showed. Only one good innings, and even then he didn't score anywhere near enough. His form has been worrying for quite some time, and the end may be nearing.
Smith 6 - generally pretty good. No big scores though which we needed. Underbowled IMO, he arguably looked more dangerous than some of our specialist bowlers.
Marsh 7 - probably the only positive of the tour. Very impressive performance with the bat in the 2nd Test. Bowling wasn't too great, but in fairness the conditions weren't easy.
Haddin 2 - rubbish with the bat. Not much better with the gloves either. He'd be thanking god his shoulder was cleared of serious damage.
Johnson 7.5 - he would've done a lot better with better support. The only bowler that Pakistan didn't slaughter though and played some very handy lower-order knocks.
Siddle 3 - end of the road? Tried hard but lacked incision on these wickets, perhaps hurt by bowling too short. His form has been on the decline for a while now and he should no longer be a lock, I'm afraid to say.
O'Keefe 4 - took more wickets than Lyon but didn't look Test-class. Think younger spinners will overtake him as the #2 guy.
Lyon 3 - he deserved better figures than what he got as he did bowl some good spells and had a few catches dropped of his bowling, but with a lineup full of right-handers he struggled for incision and consistency and was played very well. Had he bowled at a consistent length though he may have done better.
Starc 3 - shouldn't be playing Test cricket right now. Line and length was all over the shop and with the red ball there could be as many as 20 better quicks than him (OK, maybe not that far).
Maxwell 3 - dire temperament. Should never bat 3, and needs to learn how to build an innings before the Australian selectors go back to him.

And Pakistan's, FWIW:

Shehzad 7.5 - two good innings, two failures. You'd probably take that though, particularly given their middle order's performance.
Hafeez 5 - probably Pakistan's weakest player but managed a good 80 in the 2nd Test and bowled OK.
Azhar 10 - was gun. You pretty much had to kill him to dislodge his wicket, and always made a great contribution to his side's innings.
Younis 10 - amazing. What else can be said other than cliches and breaking a 90 year record?
Misbah 9 - 56 balls for a ton. Not bad for a 40 year old.
Shafiq 7 - didn't get good opportunities but helped change the game in the 1st Test with Sarfraz.
Sarfraz 8 - killed it with the bat in his only real opportunity, kept pretty well too.
Yasir 8 - a bit expensive, but really bowled rather well. Granted there's not a lot of competition, but is it safe to say that he's the best leg-spinner in the game today?
Babar 8 - very solid. Didn't have the turn of other Pakistani spinners, but was pretty consistent and is a good bowler.
Imran 6 - bowled some good deliveries, but also bowled a few bad ones. Will get better with experience.
Rahat 5 - fairly mediocre, though did take a few wickets against a reckless batting lineup.

Huh? Went for 2.67 runs an over over the series.
