Soft spot for Brisbane

So, this may get a resounding response of "who cares", but I was curious who folks thought should represent Australia at the 20/20 World Cup in Sri lanka later this year.

AUSTRALIA
Shane Watson (c)
David Warner
Shaun Marsh
Travis Birt
David Hussey
Matthew Wade
Dan Christian
James Pattinson
Brett Lee
Xavier Doherty
Nathan Lyon

Probably around the mark but outside this team for me were:
Steven Smith
Aaron Finch
Stephen O'Keefe
Cameron White
Clint McKay

Dan Harris? best T20 batsman in the country outside of Marsh and Mike Hussey.
Warner, hodge, d. Hussey, birt, marsh and m. Hussey all better than him.

Decent, but Harris is better. That'd be like saying Marcus North should be in the test side. He gets a hundred every now and then.. but fails most other times.
Proves how little you know. Warner's the best in the world, let alone country.

lolwut? Warner isn't the best in the world, far from it. As for Birt being better than Dan Harris. Shows how much you know kid, you've probably never heard of his name, but if you actually watch the game then you'd see how good of a T20 batsman he is. Averages 38, Strike rate of 143. Dave Warner averages 31 and has a strike rate of 142.

Not to mention the fact that Christian is Aboriginal so he's got that section of people covered too.
Looks as Aboriginal as Jon Griffen lol, but sure 1/1000000 aboriginal is cool

Scared to comment before Dan26 tells us all how it is, he loves T20 and I'll value his opinion infront of mine anyday, coz I reckon this game is just completely shit!!!

David Warner
Shane Watson (c)
Shaun Marsh
David Hussey
Travis Birt
Matthew Wade (+)
Daniel Christian
Xavier Doherty
James Pattinson
Clint McKay (Provides good variety to the pace attack)
Dirk Nannes (Still one of the best T20 bowlers in the country; provides experience)
------
Aaron Finch
Glenn Maxwell (Good young all-rounder who can hit a long ball and keep it tight)
Mitch Marsh (See Maxwell)
Brett Lee (Provides experience)
Adam Voges (Gets the nod over Quiney, Bailey etc. due to ability to contribute with the ball)

(Discounting Ryan Harris and Patrick Cummins to save them for the longer form)

I think the top 3 pick themselves after that it gets tricky.

Shane Watson
Dave Warner
Shaun Marsh
Daniel Harris
David Hussey
Michael Hussey
Matt Wade/Tom.Triffit
Xavier Doherty/Nathan.Hauritz
Brett Lee
Pat Cummins
Dirk Nannes/Doug Bollinger

Daniel Harris would be in the top 6 best Australian 20/20 batters but i don't want to change the Watson/Warner combo so stuck him at 4. I put Tom Triffit up as an unknown quantity as i don't think Wade has played too well in 20/20's recently. Nathan Hauritz could easily do the spinners role but Doherty is the number 1 atm. I reckon while Nannes is still playing we may as well use him as he is a gun bowler & can attack or keep it quiet. I've got Lee & Cummins as the out and out quicks too get wickets when required. Shane Watson is the key to this side & probably the best 20/20 player going around.

I watch the game and so do millions of others around the world and I think millions would agree that Warner is very close to, if not the best in the world, when it comes to T20 batting at the moment. As someone else said, he's made 3 T20 centuries in a row, which is extraordinary, especially considering I think maybe two of them were not out's and were around the 130-140 mark, which is just incredible. In the 5+ years T20 has been played, I'm pretty sure only a small handful have made more than one T20 century, so for someone to have made 3 in a row is phenomenal. At the moment, it's probably he and Chris Gale and then a bit of daylight.
As for their averages, I'm also pretty sure Harris has played the great majority of his 36 matches at Australian domestic level, whereas Warner has played a large number of his 115 matches in the IPL and ICL, against much better opposition and in much more high pressure, high profile matches. So comparing their averages is not really comparing apples to apples.
Their averages are also measuring their performances over the period of a few years.
The question at hand is who is the best right now, I believe, not over the period of a few years and right now Warner is right at the top of the T20 tree. His fielding is also elite, which adds to the package. :thumbsu:

Players with more runs that D. Harris this summer in T20's

Gayle
Birt
Mcdonald
Hussey
Jaques
Finch
Quiney
Hodge
Maddison
Shah
Warner
Marsh
Gibbs
Maxwell
Klinger
Forrest
Marsh
Hayden
borgas
Wells
Haddin
Smith
Blizzard
Henriques

Meanwhile, for the year Warner has hit over 1000 runs in 30 matches @ 47. and you still think Harris is a better bat?

Does anyone know why Mike Hussey hasn't played any t20's since 2010? Did he retire from them or just stop getting picked? I assume he retired because he was just aabout our best batsman in them.

Like that side. You're right about Wade, he's been excellent in SS and the Ryobi Cup, but has made a heap of low T20 scores in the past 12 months. The funny thing is, he played in the last T20 for Australia, but it's Haddin who looks really good in T20 at the moment and looks like he wants to be playing T20, when he bats in tests, so maybe they ought to swap. Wade in for the tests and ODI's and Haddin to keep in the Aust T20 side, until Paine or Triffit are ready. :thumbsu:
I also expect they're going to want Mitchell Marsh around the squad, for his development and maybe Glenn Maxwell, if he has a good Big Bash and/or IPL.
