if the GG wins this upcoming season, it would be fair dinkum unbelievable.

This has to be a financial decision, presuming JLP doesn't come cheap and 10 probably pinching pennies given the ratings have been going down.

It would be out of touch execs who see dropping ratings and think that the host is the problem, instead of stuff like poor casting, non-elims ruining momentum and just the evolution of audiences who watch reality TV.

The ratings went down because the genius programmers didnt have the opening night the same opening night as MAFS, it was half way through the season.
Heres an idea, dont program it against MAFS at all, it might just work

I reckon David could be a good host, so I hope people give him a go before tuning out completely. At least he absolutely loves the game, has done a bit of international stuff now, isn’t short of personality and is the best player Australia has produced.

I can see GG putting too much mayo on everything if he is indeed the next host. Part of the reason JLP was so good was that he was like a deadpan shepherd and let the game do the theatrics around him.

From what I understand, the producers at Endemol Shine and JLP were negotiating a new contract. JLP put forward a number for his salary, and Endemol Shine thought it was too high, so they have gone with a cheaper host. Apparently, the budget for the show has been slashed considerably and JLP was a victim of this.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get shorter seasons. The Australian season traditionally has been a lot longer than recent US seasons, with more contestants, non-elimination twists, etc., to deliver a package of episodes to Ten's requirements. But I suspect that after the new season airs (supposedly after Masterchef finishes), future seasons will be shortened.
