haha I love watching peoples thoughts on players/people change so frequently. It's a really good thing I think which helps us to realize that the edit has a LOT to do with what people think of each player/person.

I've said it before I think, but I feel like this is a really good cast - like there are some really really great players and cast members - but I actually think overall the 2016 cast was actually a little stronger. Luke, A.K and Henry are probably the best three cast members across the entire 48 though imo.

See we need "Survivor Up Late" like BB version- 24/7 viewing. That way we can make a better, informed decision on who we hate and who we like.

I don't think they want you to have better/informed decisions tbh haha, they are pretty happy to control it I feel. It's just funny to watch the ride we all go through.

Were you annoyed at all at your edit?? Do they actually chop and change things like showing people's reactions to something, that irl they weren't reacting to that??

And jesus christ please tell me none of it is scripted or anything.
Nah nothing is scripted at all mate, we aren't directed to say anything either. You do get specific questions sometimes which would warrant a certain answer, but you aren't forced to give a particular answer or anything. I remember once I was asked somewhere around F8 "who is the biggest threat for you right now?" and I literally went through like 5 names and the producer was still like "oh come on Matt, you know who ;)" and I literally had no idea what they were talking about haha - I think they just wanted me to name everyone so they could use what ever they wanted to.

Yeah. So they will show reactions to things that aren't actually the correct reactions (there was one of A.K at Tribal on Sunday as an example) - but it's more so to really show off moments, rather than change them.

Sometimes you can tell when a confessional has been given after an event, which is a bit funny. A good example of this, was Kristies in S1 where she said something like "Phoebe thought she could play me, but I could play her better...." which was actually filmed after Phoebes elimination, but they showed it before - to make it seem like Kristie actually made that move (it was actually Kate, according to everyone else at Vavau anyway). They do that kind of thing, to try to give a character substance or a story arch I guess - Kristie got that one as they needed the winner to not just be a floater or something I guess?

I wasn't ever unhappy with my edit, I was probably a bit annoyed a lot of my strategy wasn't shown early on - and then my strategy during the whole "Matts outside the alliance" stuff wasn't really shown either. I didn't just sit back and go 'this is fine' like it looked haha, but they needed me to get a bit of an 'idiot' arch for a bit I guess, which isn't too bad. I think the showed enough of my early game, and my end game to make it a fairly good edit all-round anyway.

There were a couple of things which were a bit off, they kinda set up this weird jealous/flirting thing with Brooke, which wasn't anything out there at all - so that was probably the only thing I didn't really understand why they had in.

Same.

And Tara isn't actually pissing me off anymore. It's weird how the show can do this. I loved AK last week- this week he can GAGF'd.

Luke will always be :hearts: tho. It's like I'd love to have a beer with this dude.
Luke is a cracker. Wouldn't be the season without him.

You should have negotiated. "Ok I'll say whoever you want me to- give me a footy score".

This season has been more enjoyable to watch. More effort been made to eliminate dangerous players and actually following through. Some players like Ziggy the other night promising one thing and doing the other.

With the elimination of some dangerous players we have been left with a few characters who seem boring like Ben - Odette - the dude with the glasses can't think of his name. We rarely hear from them and they have coasted through without really doing much. I guess that is often the best plan early doors - don't make waves. I think AK and Henry have gone to hard to early and everyone is awake to them and they will get picked off eventually.

Luke grated on me early doors but I have warmed to him and he is a chance.

I'm one of the few that liked the twist, although the producers have been incredibly lucky with how it played out. If viewers were allowed to choose two contestants to be given a second life I would guess that Tara and Annaliese would be near the absolute bottom of the list from either season combined. Neither is likeable, talented or clever and Tara is so irritating to watch. I know the twist isn't quite the "traditional" survivor play, but as long as they don't load us up with heaps of twists and just save them up to use sparingly I don't mind so much.

If someone like Mark had've been involved it would have been much easier, but luckily for the producers Henry has saved their twist and will make it look like a masterstroke in the success of this season. Asaga is now completely split and Henry in the other tribe is going to make things very interesting. A very ballsy move but if he does survive the initial tribal then he is set, no one will want to vote him off, he is far too big an asset and once given an opportunity will take control. His issue is around the final 8 to 6 mark where people really turn on those they feel control them.

Much better cast this season, or atleast they have managed to get the mix right to be able to provoke things to happen. Luke is great, even if half is moves are toothless. AK is a fantastic controlling villain, Henry as mentioned is extremely proactive, and most of the rest of the cast has been willing to make a move already.

I don't get all the hate for AK, particularly Sundays ep where it shows Tara and Mark Locky complaining about him not helping. Neither was anybody else...
Likely it was edited that way to show the drama between Lockie/AK that I assume might be coming.

I didn't mind the twist either but agree with others that having either Mark involved in exile & tribe swap would have been better than Tara & Annaliese.

Henry being on a tribe with Locky makes for a physically dominant tribe (more to do with Locky than Henry imo) but I can't help feel Henry hasn't fully thought through his game plan. Like the lack of research into yoga, throwing challenges to get Sam out (a big no in my book as I'd always focus on decimating the other tribe first) and now switching tribes - yes there are reasons for it including already mentioned physical dominance at new tribe, having an idol to keep him safe (albeit only for one vote) and being able to try and form alliances within both tribes, however we've already seen the cost it has had to his game with his closest ally out, even before she could potentially help Henry from the jury.

I disagree that no one will want to vote Henry off as edit so far already showing AK sees him as a threat and Locky is bigger physical asset. Samatau have already shown with voting off Adam & Mark (tarzan) they will vote on strategy / alliance / social rather than assets to the tribe. Henry does hold the aces though as should be easy to have Ben, Locky & Henry vote AK and he just needs to know whether others are targeting himself or Ben in the vote to play the idol (either for Ben or wait another round and play when they are voting Henry).

I like Luke as a character and how he's willing to think outside the box but unfortunately he seems to lack the social skills to go all the way - eg when he tried to get Jacqui off the first time he had the friendship with Jericho and enough of a connection with Mark (who had little other options anyway) to get three votes but seemed to be just trying to tell Michelle, Ben & Sarah how to vote and it didn't take.

AK being lazy around camp will cost him as even if he makes it all the way people like Locky & Ziggy will be reluctant to give him the $ & title unless he's up against someone they hate more. Some would reward him for gameplay but in my book good gameplay includes mitigating the reasons (laziness) for people not giving you their final vote to win.

Don't think it's been mentioned here as yet, but apparently Jacqui came back with a break in her arm & stage 4 skin cancer!

Re: the arm, she says she was misdiagnosed on the island and they edited out any/most references to her having a sore shoulder/arm.

She was on The Project last night talking about it, she looked a hell of a better with makeup on too, could barely recognise her.
