Woeful episode. They would be so much better off having 36 contestants if they want to drag the season out so much. The initial 6 weeks would be a dog's breakfast, and still nowhere near as embarrassingly contrived as tonight.

Dumb twist.

Just go tell them you were in a pitch black mangrove and told to find an idol. They know how hard idols are to find, you play it off like you looked everywhere and no luck

The depiction of last night's exchange between Henry and Jericho was baffling, but now it makes sense why they held over the explanation to this episode. It was the only suggestion of real strategy* for the whole hour!

Having the players sit around speculating about what ridiculous ways the producers are planning on destroying the show is not strategy, nor is it interesting. And no amount of overblown music, secret ballots or JLP acting coy will change that.

As for the twist, it might generate something exciting down the track. Whether I'll be hanging around long enough to be the judge of that is another question.

*poor one at that, given the possibility of it backfiring with disastrous results totally outweighs the potential benefit

Another shitty episode with no one voted off and that cringeworthy family gift bullshit that dragged on forever.

I was surprised to find out that Luke is a father when he acts like a big kid himself.

The idea of an idol cancelling out someone else's is pretty cool so my thoughts is that they should have waited till merge, hidden it somewhere then told everyone that a special idol is hidden somewhere around camp.

Keep it simple, stupid.

I've generally been pretty open to the moves the producers have made with twists and non-elimination episodes (although their timing is always terrible), however this episode was potentially the most boring episode of all time.

It was essentially Odette moping, everyone is hangry, shit gifts from family, ok challenge, heaps of strategy and theorising over a simple ballot, fake tc with ridiculously over the top vote, boring treasure hunt.

Credit to them for trying to come up with interesting ideas, but not sure how this episode ever looked good in the planning stage. At least put two challenges in it so that there is something interesting to watch. And the immunity search sounded boring and then delivered on it's promise of being a complete waste of time.

Yeah couple of dullish episodes in a row. I think that's the problem of too many cast members. We should have been at the merge a couple of weeks back.

I reckon it's still a good cast and they need to get them all together now.

i love the idea of a "sike, your idol is now worthless" idol, but the way it was executed as the ultimate reward was lame. Ziggy will need a killer cover story to avoid becoming a target.

Yeah it should have been at a challenge or somewhere ultra hard.

Or say they should have sent them on a overnight spa weekend, and they had limited amount of time to find it, ie. the one who found the clue on the reward.

The Idol Canceler in theory is a good idea, but to give the ability of it to the majority alliance via a vote is pointless. It totally removes the possibility of someone from the outside-alliance using an Idol to overthrow an Alliance. It just gives them even more power? Weird.

Hence the tribe swap next episode to fix that

True. (though it still does protect the alliance in theory, even if they are split up between tribes)

Voting at Tribal for it was a bit ridiculous I thought, why not just nominate someone like we did for Brooke (for the "amazing" Sue Swap Reward)

Filler? To be honest, it doesn't make much sense. If they didn't have a quote for non elimination episodes, they could have (and should have) just hidden the idol canceller like any other idol.

I think it's a great addition to the game and it's payoff will be enhanced in future seasons, when players are aware that could potentially exist (changing the strategy for idol plays).

On a side note, there is no ******* way in hell that Ziggy was looking for that idol in knee deep water for 6 hours.

Also from the promo for Sunday's episode, it looks like she returns with a box of fruit and other goodies, so potentially she could say that that was the reward and keep the idols to herself?
