I can't believe anyone would suggest Finch, let alone in England.
You mean the guy that averages in the low 30s, and has a grand total of two first class centuries to his name? Batting as our number 3, against the best test nation in the world, on their home soil?

Yeah, I think you can safely say you've been trolled ;)

Taking a disenchanted keeper over as a back up, that's not going to be pretty in the rooms. Especially when half the NSW players in the squad have publically gone in to bat for him. If he is picked for the squad, he will play, no doubt about it.
that is actually a very good point.

With the decision to drop Ricky from the one day side, it is about time for the selectors to plan for the 2013 Ashes tour.

The selectors should take on Aaron Finch... He is the ideal no 3 batsman. My choice is based on talent and ability.

Warner
Watson
Finch
Forrest
Clarke
Hussey
Wade
Pattinson
Siddle
Lyon
Hilfenhauss

Its a no brainer.

THE GOV
Get Steve Smith, Moises Henriques and Dan Cullen in there and it's looking like a good team :thumbsu:

concur with the criticism of finch :(

at 25 would have to turn his career around significantly to get into test contention.

Looks a likely talent as a 20/20 or ODI player. Too much like Warner for both to be in the side though.

And Warner needs to pull his head in a bit atm in the ODI's, he, probably a bit like m.waugh, gets himself out as much as the opposition get him out.

He's really growing on me, but IMO will probably lose his credibility and go down the Phil Hughes track if he doesn't show a bit more discretion in shot selection.

So, is it safe to assume Forrest is probably going to the West Indies and one of Marsh and Khawaja will be the other batsman?
if ponting plays on which it looks like hey is, then forrest is looking like being the back up. there won't be room for marsh or khawaja. they'll only take one back up batsmen.

essentially watson will come in the team for marsh. and forrest will be back up.

I see people suggesting Nevill as back-up keeper... Is he even any good? Surely Haddin is far better, even if he's in dreadful form.

Also, the whole point of taking a reserve WK is to take Wade along to 1) get him around the team and 2) come in if Haddin really loses it.

Nevill will not go.

Once they officially announce Haddin is gone they also announce they aren't taking a back-up keeper.

In the selector's eyes they still see Nevill as 4th choice keeper. So yes, he won't be going to the West Indies.

In their eyes it is still Haddin, then Paine, then Wade, then probably Nevill. They won't give him the opportunity leapfrog a favourite son (Haddin) or an anointed one (Paine). They will take Wade with one of the other 2, despite their question marks.

Haddin and Wade are the keepers, unless Wade injures himself in the next couple of match.

Haddin has been booked to go to the Windies.
