Australian Vaccine Rollout

So people under 60 can get AZ, as the PM said.

Got it.

Do you have a list of things which the tens of thousands of GPs across Australia should all be consulted on during a pandemic where the situation seems to change hourly, let alone daily?

Given the Premiers disagree on most things, you have a problem with the Prime Minister making a decision on behalf of Australia?
That's the problem friend, is that the Prime Minister does the hokey pokey to suit his political posturing instead of being clear and decisive.

It's absolute hogwash that the situation changes hourly let alone daily - Covid-19 is here and regardless of it's mutations, there should have been a clear and decisive plan of action right from the start. Unfortunately, Morrison has neither the wit nor wisdom to manage such a crisis.

Astra Zeneca was suspended by Italy, France, Spain, Denmark, Norway, The Netherlands and Germany amongst others in early March over safety concerns and Denmark stopped giving it entirely in April but Morrison, because of his ineptitude and failure of foresight, foresight that you'd expect from any everyday adult let alone the Prime Minister of Australia, he failed to get contractual agreements with a variety of vaccine manufacturers like every other country did. In fact, senior Pfizer executives were astonished that Mr Morrison had not directly spoken to the Pfizer chairman about getting Pfizer vaccines. Senior Australian Business people in the USA were besides themselves at Australia's "rude, dismissive and penny pinching approach" negotiations with Pfizer going back to June and July of LAST YEAR, 2020!

In Mid April of this year, Morrison abandoned his promise to vaccinate nearly all of our 26 million people by the end of 2021 when it was recommended by health professionals that people under the age of 50 should only get Pfizer which was absolutely fair enough even though his assertion that we'd all be vacinated by the end of 2021 was approaching the absurd and only made to enhance his political standing. Maybe an election was in the offing?

Then, on the 20th of May, Hunt says, "Right now, we want to encourage everybody over 50 to be vaccinated as early as possible,” but if you are "uncertain about AZ there’ll be more doses of Pfizer and Moderna available later in the year." People were confused! Did it mean that it was OK to wait for Pfizer or Moderna vaccines latter in the year? It sounded as if there was no hurry. The Australian Medical Association, president, Dr Omar Khorshid, said “a big positive campaign” promoting the vaccines and especially AstraZeneca given its wide availability, had been lacking and that this was disappointing. He went on to say that what should also have been mentioned was that those who refuse the AstraZeneca vaccine, would now be at the bottom of the queue for Pfizer. Therefore, if you’re over the age of 70 and you decline AstraZeneca you could well be waiting until the end of the year for an alternative. Dr Khorshid said on the 20th of May (the same day), “Is that a good public health outcome? It’s not, because there is a chance we’ll have a significant outbreak again here in Australia and, if we do, then it’s those people who are most vulnerable to the disease and who are unvaccinated [who] will be in trouble.”

On the 17th of June, Hunt said that the AstraZeneca vaccine will now only be recommended for use in people aged 60 and over, after the Federal Government accepted new advice from the country's vaccine experts.

On the 1st of July with no recommendation from and against the wishes of ATAGI, Morrison says that under 40's can get AZ but they should talk to their Doctor first. Have you spoken to an under 40 who has spoken to their Doctor? You should you know because the Doctor's advice WILL be along the lines of, "You can get it but it's much safer for you to get Pfizer." What do you reckon a "normal" under 40 would say?

How about Morrison's recommendation to get the second dose of AZ after 2 months instead of 3? He somehow forgot to mention that by doing so, the efficacy of the vaccine goes from about 73%+ with a three month period between shots to about 55% eficacy at around two months. Nah, that would not be good politics and that is just it: for Morrison, it's all about the politics, the spin the PR and f**k all to do with public health because if it was, Delta variant or no Delta Variant, lockdown or no lockdown, the messaging, the direction should be clear and precise and not bounce around like corn popping in saucepan and the only reason that "the situation seems to change hourly, let alone daily" is that devoid of a sound, clear strategy and because of complete failure to plan as well as the reactionary bullsh*t of Premier Gladys who reckons, just like Scotty-from-marketing reckons, that you can just "cross that bridge when you get to it" malarky, that's the only reason that "the situation seems to change hourly, let alone daily".

The situation is the same and has been the same for 18 months or so: Covid-19 is here even though it should not be in the community but because it is due to a failure by the Federal Government, then we 1., we must stop it escaping into the community 2. be honest with the people of Australia and have a well executed plan to administer the vaccines by giving clear and honest direction. If you cannot keep Covid-19 from escaping into the community, you are f***ed and you only exacerbate the problem by bullsh*ting about the dog's breakfast of a vaccine roll out.

Don't people get it? The "situation changes hourly, let alone daily" line is just another load of PR spin designed to get Morrison and his inept bunch off the hook by laying the blame on the virus! The virus is here and has been so for a year and a half and the only thing that changes, is the spin from Morrison and his Government.

This is quite a rant.

Also, ATAGI now say anyone over 18 should get AZ if they cant get Pfizer.

So yes, it does change rapidly.

To think how much time you wasted on your post. Or did you copy paste it?

No they don't

ATAGI says you "should strongly consider AZ"

Ah nitpicking. Thats how you win an argument !

Yes, the advice was if over 40 speak to your GP about AZ. Now its if over 18 speak to your GP.

Either way, what the Feds said about AZ is correct.

The only screwup was what Hunt about a month ago. But then, anyone taking medical advice from a politician over their own doctor is probably a moron.

Using the “Russians did nothing wrong” defence.

In an email, Dr. Mercola said it was “quite peculiar to me that I am named as the #1 superspreader of misinformation.” Some of his Facebook posts were only liked by hundreds of people, he said, so he didn’t understand “how the relatively small number of shares could possibly cause such calamity to Biden’s multibillion dollar vaccination campaign.”

God. At what point does he get his Dr title taken off him?

In 2012, Dr. Mercola began writing about the virtues of tanning beds. He argued that they reduced the chances of getting cancer, while also selling tanning beds with names like Vitality and D-lite for $1,200 to $4,000 each. Many of the articles were based on discredited studies.

The Federal Trade Commission brought false-advertising claims against Dr. Mercola in 2017 based on the health claims about tanning beds. He settled and sent $2.95 million in refunds to customers who bought the tanning beds.

The Food and Drug Administration has also issued warning letters to Dr. Mercola for selling unapproved health products in 2005, 2006 and 2011 and has fined him millions of dollars.

Is that a national advice or only for Sydney/NSW (I thought the later)?

Greater Sydney at the moment. But you would assume the advice will be updated any time a city / town has an outbreak.

They look at the risk of the vaccine vs the risk of the virus. Its what they have always done. The problem really is poor messaging from politicians combined with media who are more interested in profiting off that poor messaging than ensuring the correct message gets out.

the messaging on this is horrid

just IMO, it would be better to make it national. it avoids the whole "why is this not safe for a Melbournian, but its safe for me?!?!?" argument

The problem is there is a QLD Premier and QLD Chief Health Officer who have said they dont want 18 year olds dying from the vaccine.

and that was in reaction to the stupid comments that came out the day (?) before from ATAGI via the pm's panicky presser

do a proper firm and science based response, and they will fall into line

QLD could only run with that line because it was deemed unsafe for certain people to be injected (and they ran with it far too hard)

No it wasn't. Young and Palaszczuk had been on record for a month saying they didn't take the AZ as they wanted Pfizer.
Not everything is the PMs fault.

not blaming the PM - they piled on after him however and used it to validate their call

take that validation away and they cannot maintain this stance

(and I am on record saying Anna squibbed the vax choice for herself)

I do not feel it was a waste of time trying to convey to you the reality of what's happening. Maybe it's your couldn't give a f**k attitude or your love for everything Morrison that makes you ambivalent to the situation in Australia?

I spent time getting the timeline right and pointed out to you that they situation does not change for Morrison - he palmed off his responsibilities to the States and they are the ones who have to deal with changing circumstances. Morrison's task was to roll out a vaccine which is not subject to daily or weekly changes but he is so f****ng inept, he can't even do that and to try and get himself off the hook, he invikes the troubles of the States as if it's his problem.

He is a slimy, useless **** who is now channelling Trump stronger than ever by blaming ATAGI and everything else for his massive shortcomings as well as misrepresenting those professionals who have spent the bulk of their life in these health related fields.

As for your "copy paste it" remark, it shows just what a disrespectful so and so you are when a person spends time trying to giving you a researched response instead of some regurgitated Sky-After-Dark crap.

2 good mates of mine saw people have adverse effects from the Covid jabs when they went for their shots.
I saw a woman have to have a lie down
They had a few hospital beds in the side room of Kevs Shed in town

2nd Jab was in a Tafe and they had hospital beds in the side room too

Well there goes Novavax:

Haven't completed Stage 3 trials, having supply/manufacturing issues, now delivery delayed till 2022.
The results that have been received suggest it's meant to be a good jab too, from memory about 89-90%, although I don't know if that's the case for Delta and other variants that have proven troublesome for vaccine efficacy like Beta. Very unfortunate.
