Australia are currently playing New Zealand in a 3 match T20I series as they prepare for the Womens WT20 in November.

The next series on home turf will occur all the way in February with a 3 match ODI series against the same opponent, but in the meantime they will play 3 ODI and T20 matches against Pakistan in Kuala Lumpur of all places in late October.

Tonight is also obviously the debut of channel 7’s cricket coverage, after the end of channel 9’s 40 year association.

Good late hitting here. Should be a tough chase for the Aussies.

The highlight for me was Jess Watkins running between wickets. I Reckon she survived 4 run out chances

Haynes is such a crisp hitter. She is over shadowed by the likes of Lanning, Perry, Healy, Mooney and Gardner but she is every bit as good.
    This is a deep team.

3 no balls in a row for Perry!

Lucky for Perry only the last free hit was smacked but still some appalling bowling from her.

Fair old capitulation from the Kiwis, 24 runs off the last five overs, all downhill after the Bates wicket.

I find the Gardner runout an impossible decision. It is not obvious the ball hit the stumps, and if it did it’s not obvious it dislodged the bail. All the benefit of the doubt should have gone to the batsmen.

Ellyse Perry is bowling off her back leg too much. That's why she's bowling no balls.

Every time a replay of that Rachael Haynes catch is shown it needs to be supported by the guitar riff from ‘Legs’. One of the all time classic catches

Really should be getting a world championship out of this team next month, if not to make up for missed opportunities in recent years then simply because there's a much better balance to the XI now.

No longer concerned about losing it at the selection table unless a wave of injury throws a spanner in the works. Captaincy is a bit of a different story but I'm optimistic about Lanning at the moment too, either because there's actual improvement happening or she's just looked good compared to NZ's Satterthwaite (a dreadful decision-maker under pressure, think I might've expressed that view on here before).

Looking into the future as far as I can on the Foxtel guide, the 1st ODI certainly isn't listed.

Also no link for it in the Series & Tournaments hub on CA's website so that probably sums up where priorities are at, but I could be wrong and very surprised.

Our schedule for the upcoming World T20 in the Carribbeeann (using Melbourne times)

Saturday, 10th November, first ball at 7 am vs Pakistan
Monday, 12th November at 7 am vs Ireland
Wednesday, 14th November at 11 am vs New Zealand
Sunday, 18th November at 2 am vs India

Semi Finals at 7 am and 11 am on Friday, 23rd November
Final at 11 am on Sunday, 25th November

Every match of this no-nonsense-format two-week tournament will be broadcast on Fox Cricket.
Channel 9 will also be showing Australian games, the first two are on GEM and the others are yet to be listed from what I've seen.

Australia looking very comfortable in the first game, batted very well in the first innings and has bowled well in the second.
Healy is the best Wicketkeeper, male or female, in the world.

Well the Australians put more than enough on the board, but I hate seeing our batsmen fall into the trap of complicating things, especially since they all (or most) can look so good when simply standing-and-delivering straight back down the ground.

Pakistan did about all you could ask to limit the damage with the ball after a bad start that included dropping Mooney on 2. No surprises in the run chase with their batting still a work in progress.

Theres a real argument that can be made that Ellyse Perry isn't in Australia's best t20 XI.

Also loving Bangladesh's tactics against West Indies. Basically have bowled all spinners bowling no faster than 70kmh. Windies just cant generate enough power or pace on the ball to hit through the field.

Anyone else watching us stomp Ireland? Alyssa Healy can really bat, just brought up her 50 from 21 balls. Watching her and Perry I sometimes wonder how they'd go in the men's side - she has the power to clear the rope but crucially seems to be a lot better at placing shots into the gaps than most of our male players.

I'm a big advocate for women's cricket, but they wouldn't be competitive. The physical gap is simply too wide.

Love watching the Aussie women go about it though. Good outfit.
